School Studio: a coin pocket per teacher
In a school, many teachers work in Dirassa Studio, and the coins come out of one balance. While it is shared, one very active teacher can empty it before their colleagues even start. “School Studio” gives each teacher their own pocket: they spend only from it, and you fill it with a lump sum, a monthly allowance or by approving their request. In this lesson Mourad Belkacem shares 600 coins among Al Ofok Academy's teachers: Samia Benomar, who makes booklets and motion explainers every week, Karim Haddad and Nadia Meziani. The same method serves a photography school whose trainers make promo videos, or a training centre producing booklets.
- About 6 minutes
- 10 steps
Who can do it: The “School Studio” page needs “Workspace settings” (the director and the deputy by default), under “Money” in the school menu. A teacher sees their pocket in “Dirassa Studio” then “Coins”, and needs “Edit lessons” to work in Dirassa Studio.
In 10 steps
- 1Before: a “Shared balance” the whole team spends, and “Spent this month” with what each teacher spent.
- 2“Starting allowance per teacher” then “Turn on teacher allowances”: the amount moves at once from the school's balance into each pocket.
- 3After: “School balance” and “In teachers' pockets”, and on each teacher's row their pocket, allowance and devices.
- 4Tap a teacher: “Give” from the balance to their pocket, or “Take back” to the balance; they get a notification.
Show all
- 5A teacher spends only their pocket: more is refused, a failure refunds the pocket that paid, and free services cost nothing.
- 6In “Coins” the teacher sees “Your balance from Al Ofok Academy” and asks with “Ask for coins”, one open request at a time.
- 7The request arrives as a notification and in “Coin requests”: give the amount as is or adjusted, or “Decline” with a reason.
- 8“Monthly allowance”: on the 1st from 08:00 Algiers time, the pocket is filled up to the number from the balance; if it falls short, the refill retries every hour.
- 9“Settings”: “Teacher allowances” (off goes back to one shared balance) and “Teachers top up themselves” (where their top-ups go).
- 10For each teacher: this month's spending service by service, and their paired devices with “Unpair”.
Before you start
- “School” is switched on, and your teachers are active members of the team.
- The school's balance holds coins: a Studio plan, or a top-up by code or request from “Top up the school”. With no balance you can turn allowances on, but nothing is given.
- Your teachers have paired Dirassa Studio with the school; otherwise their row reads “Has not paired the app”.
- Step 2 of 10
Turn allowances on with a starting amount
Under the three lines sits “Starting allowance per teacher”. The page suggests a number the balance can pay (20 here) and tells you: “Given now from the school's balance (600 coins) to each teacher (3), in equal parts: if the balance can't cover everyone, each share shrinks. Leave 0 to give later.” Press “Turn on teacher allowances”. At once 20 coins go into each pocket: the “School balance” drops to 540, and “In teachers' pockets” reads 60 “with 3 teachers”. From now on each teacher spends from their pocket, and the rest of the balance is spent only by the director and the deputy; it reaches a pocket only by a gift or an allowance.
On screenStarting allowance per teacherTurn on teacher allowancesSchool balanceIn teachers' pocketsTipLeave 0 to give each teacher a different amount: turn allowances on, then give from each row.
Heads-upIf the number is more than the balance can pay for everyone, the balance is split equally and each share shrinks. For the full number, pick what the balance covers: 20 × 3 = 60 of 600.
- Step 3 of 10
The team and each pocket
Once on, the page changes: three numbers at the top, “School balance” (“Allowances are given and refilled from it.”), “In teachers' pockets” (counting those who hold coins) and “Spent this month”. Then “Teachers and team”: each row shows the name, under it the monthly allowance or “No monthly allowance”, this month's spending and the number of devices, and at the end their pocket as a number. An empty pocket shows faded. On the side sits the “Settings” block, and under it: “The director spends the school's balance directly. Free services in the app need no coins.” Tap Samia's row: her panel opens.
On screenSchool balanceIn teachers' pocketsSpent this monthTeachers and teamNo monthly allowanceHas not paired the appSettingsTipThe director and the deputy have no pocket: they spend the balance directly and are not on the list. Pockets are for teachers, assistants and any other role. No one can give to themself or approve their own request. When someone's collaboration ends, they are removed, or they become deputy, their pocket returns to the school's balance by itself.
- Step 4 of 10
Give or take back
The teacher's panel opens on “Give or take back”: type the number (30 here), then “Give”. The coins move from the school's balance to Samia's pocket: 540 becomes 510, 20 becomes 50, and you read “30 coins given.” Samia gets a notification: “Studio coins for you”, “30 coins in your pocket.” “Take back” returns what is unspent in her pocket to the school's balance: “10 coins back to the school's balance.” Under the field a line reminds you of the balance: “510 coins in the school's balance.”
On screenGive or take backGiveTake back30 coins given.Studio coins for youTipMore than the balance? Only what is available is given, and the message says how much. The same goes for taking back: never more than the pocket.
Heads-up“Give” is off while the balance is empty: “The school's balance is empty: top it up first.” Top up with “Top up the school” at the top of the page.
- Step 5 of 10
A teacher spends from their pocket
In Dirassa Studio on her computer, “Your balance” shows Samia's pocket, not the school's balance. Every service comes out of her pocket: a booklet on “Uniform linear motion” at 3, and the pocket drops to 9. A motion explainer at 3 fails to generate: the three coins go back to her pocket, the one that paid, not to the school's balance. Then she wants a 30-second promo video at 25 coins with 9 in her pocket: the service does not start and the app refuses for lack of coins, even with hundreds left in the school's balance. What is free in the app, like cleaning a recording or writing help, needs no pocket.
On screenYour balanceBalanceTipThis is what protects the balance: no one spends more than their pocket. When the app refuses, the teacher knows to ask.
- Step 6 of 10
The teacher's pocket in “Coins”, and their request
On the web Samia opens “Dirassa Studio” then “Coins”: at the top, “Your balance from Al Ofok Academy” and her pocket's number, then how it fills: “Your allowance refills on the 1st to 50 coins.” or “The school gives you coins on request.” She presses “Ask for coins”, the card's main button, which opens “Ask the school for coins”: she fills in “How many you need” (40) and “Why (optional)”: “Promo video for the physics course”, then “Send the request”. She reads “You asked for 40 coins; the request is with the school.”, with “Cancel the request”. After your decision she reads here “The school approved: 30 coins received.” or “The school declined your request.” with your reason. Below, a line says whether she can top up her pocket herself (“Redeem a code”, “Request coin top-up”) or whether top-ups are handled by the school.

Heads-upIn a school with allowances, a teacher does not request a Studio plan: “The Studio subscription is managed by the school.”
- Step 7 of 10
Answer the request: give or decline
A notification arrives: “A Studio coins request”, “Samia Benomar asks for 40 coins”, opening “School Studio”. The “Coin requests” block shows how many; on Samia's row, her reason and “asks: 40”. Tap it: the “Samia Benomar's request” panel shows her reason and the “How many to give” field, set to 40. Change it if you like, to 30: the button becomes “Give 30 coins”. Press it: 30 coins move from the school's balance (510 → 480) to Samia's pocket (9 → 39), and she gets “Studio coins for you”. Or press “Decline”, write the “Reason (sent to the teacher)”, then “Send the decline”: she gets “Your coins request was declined” with your reason.
On screenA Studio coins requestCoin requestsHow many to giveGive 30 coinsDeclineReason (sent to the teacher)Send the declineTipThe reason is optional, but it helps the teacher understand: “your monthly allowance refills in a week”.
Heads-upIf the balance is below the amount, the field says: “The school has only 480: what is available will be given.” If it is empty, the request can't be approved: top up first.
- Step 8 of 10
The monthly allowance: filled on the 1st
So Samia does not have to ask every week, type 50 under “Monthly allowance” in her panel, then “Save”: “Monthly allowance saved.” The rule: “On the 1st the pocket is filled up to this number from the school's balance, starting next month (for this month, give above). 0 means none.” Mourad saved it in October, so the first fill came in November. Up to the number, never beyond: on 1 November from 08:00 Algiers time, Samia had 14 and received 36 to reach 50; Karim (allowance 30) had 12 and received 18. Nadia, with no allowance, stayed as she was. 54 coins left the school's balance (480 → 426), and each got “Your Studio allowance was refilled”. Samia's row now reads “50 a month”.
On screenMonthly allowanceSaveMonthly allowance saved.Your Studio allowance was refilledTipPockets don't pile up: whoever still has 50 or more gets nothing that month. And an allowance saved mid-month starts on the next 1st: for this month, give with “Give or take back” just above it.
Heads-upIf the school's balance runs short on refill day, some teachers get less than their allowance, and the director and the deputy hear once a month: “The school's Studio balance cannot cover the allowances”. No need to make it up by hand: anyone not yet full is retried every hour, so the refill completes by itself as soon as you top up.
- Step 9 of 10
The two settings: allowances, and self top-up
The “Settings” block has two switches. “Teacher allowances”: “Each teacher spends from their own pocket. Turn off to go back to one shared balance.” And “Teachers top up themselves”, on from the start: “What a teacher tops up with a code or a purchase goes to their pocket.” Turn it off and it reads: “What a teacher tops up goes to the school's balance.” What Samia sees in “Coins” changes too: “Redeem a code” and “Request coin top-up” disappear, she reads “Top-ups are handled by the school. Ask when you need more.”, and “Ask for coins” stays.
On screenSettingsTeacher allowancesTeachers top up themselvesTipKeep “Teachers top up themselves” on if your teachers pay for extra work out of their own money: what one tops up stays theirs alone.
Heads-upTurning allowances off puts everyone back on one balance, pockets included. If you turn them on again, the pockets come back with what they held, and anything spent in between counts against the school's balance.
- Step 10 of 10
What each teacher spent, and their devices
At the bottom of the panel, two parts. “Spent this month: 52 coins”, service by service: “Motion explainers” 10 times for 30, “Booklets” 4 times for 12, “Knowledge map” 5 times for 10. With no spending: “Nothing spent this month.” Then “Paired devices”: every computer Dirassa Studio is paired on, with its system (macOS or Windows), version and when it was last seen. An old classroom PC nobody uses? “Unpair” then “Yes, unpair”: “Device unpaired.” That device no longer spends from their pocket until it is paired again.
On screenSpent this month: 52 coinsPaired devicesUnpairYes, unpairDevice unpaired.TipUnpairing touches neither the teacher's pocket nor their work: only the device leaves. The teacher pairs it again from Dirassa Studio if needed.

Questions
Do the director or the deputy spend from a pocket?
No. The director and the deputy spend the school's balance directly. Every other team member spends from their pocket while “Teacher allowances” is on, and no one can give to themself or approve their own request.
A service fails for a teacher: where do the coins go?
Back to the pocket that paid for it, not to the school's balance.
Why wasn't a teacher's allowance refilled this month?
Either their pocket already held their allowance or more (it is only filled up to the number), or the allowance was saved this month and starts next month, or the school's balance is short and you received “The school's Studio balance cannot cover the allowances”. Top up: the refill retries every hour until it is complete.
Can a teacher send two requests?
No. One open request at a time: they cancel it with “Cancel the request”, then send another.
What happens to the coins in pockets if I turn allowances off?
They join one balance the whole team spends. If you turn allowances on again, the pockets come back with what they held.
A teacher topped up themselves: whose coins are they?
With “Teachers top up themselves” on, theirs alone, in their pocket. With it off, top-up is hidden from them and anything topped up goes to the school's balance.
