Buyer reviews: whoever received writes, the visitor reads

In your store, only someone who bought and received can leave a review: after delivery, their order page asks “How did you find “…”?”; they choose “I recommend it” or “I don't recommend it”, ready words that describe the product, and a line for the next buyers if they like. On the product page, visitors read the number of reviews, the share who “recommend it”, the most chosen words and the latest lines, in words and numbers only. In this lesson Rachid Ferhat, a cooking trainer, sells the printed “Algerian home cooking recipe book” at 1,600 DZD; Nassima in Tlemcen receives it and reviews it, then Rachid reads it in “Reviews”. It works the same for a photography trainer selling a digital workbook, or a maths teacher selling summaries.

  • Nothing to do to collect reviews; a minute a week to read the new ones
  • 5 steps

Who can do it: The “Reviews” page can be read by anyone with “Store and products” or “Orders and delivery”; its menu link shows for “Store and products”. Hiding and showing: “Store and products” only.

In 5 steps

  1. 1Once received, the order page asks the buyer for a review: “I recommend it” or “I don't recommend it”, words, a line.
  2. 2The product page shows the number of reviews, the share who “recommend it”, the most chosen words and the latest lines.
  3. 3“Reviews” in the store: everything buyers wrote, with “All”, “Visible” and “Hidden”.
  4. 4Each row: the product, the name, the order number, the date, the line, “Recommends it” or “Doesn't recommend it”, and the words.

  1. 5“Hide” takes the review off the product page without deleting it, “Show” brings it back.

Before you start

  • An open store with orders that reached their buyers: a review opens for a parcel once “Delivered”, and for a digital product once it is delivered in a completed order.
  • No setting, no switch: the review box appears on its own on the order page as soon as the product is the buyer's.
  • The “Store and products” permission to hide and show.
  1. Step 1 of 5

Where and when the buyer writes a review

When the order reaches its buyer (the parcel is “Delivered”, or the digital product is delivered in a completed order), their order page in your store shows a box for each product in it: “How did you find “…”?”. Nassima picks “I recommend it” or “I don't recommend it”, then from “What describes it (pick any)” ready words: “As described”, “Great quality”, “Arrived fast”, “Fits right”, “Well packed”, “Truly useful”, “Clearly explained”, “Worth the price”, then if she wants “A line for the next buyers (optional)”. Under the box: “Your review shows on the product page with your first name and the initial of your family name.” She taps “Send my review”: “Thank you for your review of “…”.” appears, with “Edit my review”. Nassima picks “I recommend it”, “Clearly explained” and “Worth the price”, and writes: “I got the mhadjeb and the chakhchoukha right the first time.”

On screenI recommend itI don't recommend itWhat describes it (pick any)As describedGreat qualityArrived fastFits rightWell packedTruly usefulClearly explainedWorth the priceA line for the next buyers (optional)Send my reviewEdit my review

TipOne review per product in the order: if the buyer comes back and taps “Edit my review” then “Update my review”, the same review changes; no second one is added. If they forget to choose, they read “Choose “I recommend it” or “I don't recommend it”.”

Heads-upBefore delivery the review is refused (“You can review it once you have received your order.”), and nobody who didn't buy can write one: the product page itself has no review box. A cancelled order shows no box. The line is up to 600 characters, and up to five words can be picked.

  2. Step 2 of 5

What visitors read on the product page

As soon as the product has at least one visible review, a small line appears under its name and price, such as “87% recommend it · 15 reviews”; the visitor taps it and lands on the “Buyer reviews (15)” tab among the product page's tabs. There: the count, the share who “recommend it” with a thumbs-up, then the four most chosen words, each with its count (“Clearly explained 9”), then the latest six written lines, each with the writer's first name and initial (“Nassima B.”), the date, and “recommends it” if they do. At the bottom: “Every review here comes from a buyer who received their order.”

On screenBuyer reviewsrecommend itrecommends itEvery review here comes from a buyer who received their order.

TipThe percentage counts visible reviews only: a hidden review is not in the count, the percentage or the words. The lines shown are the latest six written ones; a review without a line counts in the number, percentage and words but does not appear among the lines.

Heads-upNo five-point rating and no average: a review is words and numbers only. A product with no visible review shows neither the tab nor the line, so a visitor never sees “0 reviews”.

  3. Step 3 of 5

The “Reviews” page: everything buyers wrote

In “Store”, open “Reviews”. Under the title: “What buyers wrote after receiving their orders. Hide what doesn't belong on the product page; nothing is deleted.” Then three filters with their counts: “All”, “Visible”, “Hidden”, and the list below, newest first, up to a hundred reviews. Rachid opens “All” and finds 15 reviews of his book, Nassima's on top.

    On screenReviewsAllVisibleHidden

TipYour choice stays in the page's link (“?status=hidden” for hidden ones): keep it if you go over the hidden reviews every week.

Heads-upBefore the first review the page says “No reviews here yet” and “Buyers are asked for a review on their order page once they receive it.”: nothing is missing, reviews come after delivery. Someone with neither “Store and products” nor “Orders and delivery” sees “Reviews are for the store team”.

  4. Step 4 of 5

    Reading each review

Each row starts with a thumb: up for those who recommend, down for those who don't. Then the product's name, the buyer's name as the public sees it, the order number (“#A-1062”) and the date. Below, their line as they wrote it, or “No written comment”, then the “Recommends it” or “Doesn't recommend it” chip, the words they picked, and “Hidden” if you hid it. The order number leads you to the order in “Orders” if you want to call someone who doesn't recommend it and understand what happened.

On screenNo written commentRecommends itDoesn't recommend itHidden

TipA “Doesn't recommend it” with “Arrived fast” and “Well packed” tells you delivery is fine and the problem is the product itself, and the other way round: read the words before the line.

Heads-upYou can't reply to a review from this page, nor change the buyer's words: you can only show or hide. To talk to them, go through the order, by phone or WhatsApp.

  5. Step 5 of 5

“Hide” and “Show”: nothing is deleted

At the end of each row, a button: “Hide” for a visible review, “Show” for a hidden one. A review with an insult, a phone number or talk unrelated to the product: tap “Hide” and it leaves the product page, its count, percentage and words, and stays with you under “Hidden” with the “Hidden” chip. The buyer reads on their order page “The seller hid it from the product page.” If you made a mistake, “Show” puts it back as it was.

    On screenHideShowHidden

TipHide what doesn't belong, not every “Doesn't recommend it”: a visitor trusts 87% more than 100%, and honest reviews are what make “Every review here comes from a buyer who received their order.” mean something.

Heads-upThe button is for “Store and products” only; “Orders and delivery” reads without hiding. If saving fails, “Couldn't save” appears: try again. A hidden review that the buyer edits stays hidden.

Questions

Can any visitor write a review?

No. A review is written only from the order page, and after the buyer received the product: a parcel once “Delivered”, a digital product once delivered in a completed order. That's why the product page says “Every review here comes from a buyer who received their order.”

Why is there no five-point rating?

Because the store collects what helps the next buyer: whether the buyer recommends it, which words describe it, and a line from them. So the product page shows the share who “recommend it”, the most chosen words and the latest lines.

Can I delete a negative review?

No review is ever deleted. “Hide” takes it off the product page and out of the percentage; it stays with you under “Hidden”, and the buyer sees that you hid it. Use it for what doesn't belong, not for every criticism.

Can I reply to a review?

Not from the “Reviews” page. To understand what happened, the order number in the row leads you to the order in “Orders”, where you can call the buyer or write to them on WhatsApp.

The buyer changed their mind a week later: do I get two reviews?

No. Each product in the order has one review; “Edit my review” then “Update my review” changes that same review, which stays visible or hidden as before.
