“Ask Noqta” on a lesson block

Every block with words has a small Noqta button: simplify a hard paragraph, shorten a long explanation, fix the spelling, translate, summarize it in points, or turn it into an exercise with a step-by-step solution. You see her work as your student will, and nothing goes into the lesson until you choose “Use it”.

  • About 4 minutes
  • 5 steps

Who can do it: Requires the permission to edit lessons, and Noqta turned on for your account.

In 5 steps

  1. 1Press the Noqta button on the block’s bar: “Ask Noqta”.
  2. 2On text: simpler, shorter, fix the language, translate, summarize, make an exercise.
  3. 3On an exercise: write the step-by-step solution, or a similar exercise.
  4. 4Review, then “Use it” or “Try again” — one undo removes it all.

Before you start

  • Noqta turned on for your account (if her buttons don’t show, it isn’t).
  • A block with words: text, toggle, summary, note or exercise.
  1. Step 1 of 5

Where the button is, and on which blocks

Click a block to show its bar: the “Ask Noqta” button is there (and in ⋯, “Ask Noqta…”). It appears on blocks with words: text and toggle, summary and note, and exercise. Video, image, table, file, audio, code and interactive have none. On an empty block: “This block has no words yet — write something, then ask.”

    On screenAsk NoqtaAsk Noqta…

TipUnder each task a line says what will happen, like “Shorter sentences and clearer words, same information”.

  2. Step 2 of 5

On text: simplify, shorten, fix, translate, summarize, practise

On text or a toggle, six tasks: “Simpler” — shorter sentences, clearer words, same information; “Shorter” — half the length without losing what students need; “Fix the language” — spelling, grammar and punctuation only; “Translate to” Arabic, French or English; “Summarize it” — a summary in short points, added with “Add it after the block”; and “Make an exercise from it” — a problem that applies what it explains, with a step-by-step solution, added after it. On a summary or note, only the first four.

Tip“Fix the language” doesn’t touch your style: spelling, grammar and punctuation only.

  3. Step 3 of 5

On an exercise: the solution, and a similar one

On an exercise block: “Write the step-by-step solution” — the solution steps for this problem, one move per step — then “Put them in the exercise”; and “Similar exercise” — another problem of the same kind and level — then “Add it after the exercise”. Plus “Fix the language” and “Translate to”.

TipWrite the full problem first: Noqta solves what the problem says; if it’s incomplete, so is the solution.

  4. Step 4 of 5

    Review, then use

You see Noqta’s work as your student will, with: “Nothing goes into the lesson until you choose “Use it”.” Then “Use it” (or “Add it after the block”, “Put them in the exercise”, “Add it after the exercise”, depending on the task), “Try again” for another version, or close and nothing changes. If you change your mind later, one “Undo” removes what Noqta added.

Heads-upAlways check formulas and figures before “Use it”: the lesson is published under your name.

  5. Step 5 of 5

    Noqta beyond the block

In an empty lesson: “Draft it with Noqta” — “From the lesson's title and chapter: an explanation and an exercise you review before publishing”. From the course, its level, the lesson’s chapter and title, she writes an explanation and an exercise with its solution steps, shown as students will read them, then “Use it”, “Another one” or “Dismiss”; and under “Or start from a ready shape”: “Build this lesson from a PDF you have”. Once the lesson has content: under its title, in the description, “Describe the lesson with Noqta” — she reads the lesson and writes a line or two students read under the title; once there is text, the button becomes “Reword it”. In “End of the lesson”: “Noqta writes them” (“Ask Noqta for questions from this lesson”) — questions from the lesson’s content, which you review before they count. In the video’s properties: “Let Noqta suggest chapters” from the transcript.

TipThe draft goes into the lesson as one change — one “Undo” takes it out — and each academy gets 10 drafts a day, failed ones not counted. Until you change a word of it, “Worth doing” in the publish panel says “Noqta wrote this explanation — read it before publishing”.

Questions

Why don’t I see the Noqta button on a block?

It only shows on text, toggle, summary, note and exercise, and when Noqta is on for your account. Video, image, table and the rest have none.

Does Noqta change the lesson by herself?

No. Nothing goes into the lesson until you choose “Use it” or its equivalent, and one undo removes what she added.

Can I translate a whole lesson?

Translation works block by block: “Translate to” Arabic, French or English, each one reviewed before you use it.

Does Noqta solve the exercise?

Yes: “Write the step-by-step solution” writes the steps for the problem, then “Put them in the exercise”. Check the solution before publishing.

Where does Noqta get her information?

From the block’s own text. For lesson questions and the description, she reads the whole lesson — which is why their buttons only show once there is content. For an empty lesson’s draft, she starts from the course, its level, the lesson’s chapter and title, and what your academy told her.

How many drafts does Noqta write for an empty lesson?

10 a day for each academy, and “Another one” counts as a new draft; a failed one isn’t counted. Once they’re used, the row says “Today's drafts are used — they come back tomorrow”.
