Getting started

Get to know your dashboard and finish setting up your platform

Once your academy exists you land on Home: a page that tells you the next step in your first days, then becomes the dashboard of your day: what waits for you first, then the month’s numbers. Every part of it is explained here, with the column of sections and the panel of their pages, the “You are here” path and search, the phone, the account menu, the My account page and Noqta. The frame is the same for a tutor, a photography trainer who sells courses or a training centre with a whole team.

  • About 7 minutes
  • 8 steps

Who can do it: Every member of your team sees Home and the sections according to their permissions; “Finish setting up your platform” appears to whoever can manage settings (owner and admin).

In 8 steps

  1. 1Home greets you with the date, then “Waiting for you” with what awaits your decision, then “Your numbers” once you have a course.
  2. 2Follow “Finish setting up your platform”: seven steps, the next one written out with its button, the rest under “All steps”.
  3. 3On a computer: the sections sit in a column on the edge with what waits in each, their pages in a panel beside it, and the Inbox gathers everything awaiting a decision.
  4. 4The “You are here” path tells you where you are and jumps between courses on the same tab; ⌘K search finds pages, courses and students, and creates.
Show all
  1. 5On a phone, five fixed places at the bottom, and Menu opens the column and the pages together; on a tablet, the pages slide over the page.
  2. 6From your picture at the bottom of the column: appearance and reading, language, My account, settings and sign out; from the logo: another organization or the site.
  3. 7In My account: your name, phone, picture, password, and signing out everywhere.
  4. 8Noqta at the bottom of the column, or her face at the top of a phone, opens the chat: ask about your numbers, or have a page explained step by step.

Before you start

  • A confirmed account and the academy you created after signing up; if not, start with the lesson on creating your account.
  • A browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone: the dashboard is the same, and the frame around it adapts to the screen.
  • Nothing else: everything on this page works from day one.
  1. Step 1 of 8

Home: what waits for you first, then your numbers

At the top, “Hello, {first name}” (without a title such as “Mr” or “Dr”) and today’s date, with “Tour” with Noqta beside them, “Your site”, which opens your academy in a new tab, and “New course” once you have a course. Then the “Waiting for you” card: one row per kind of waiting work, with a sentence and a single button — “3 receipts to review” with “Review”, “2 papers to grade” with “Grade”, your students’ questions with “Reply”, unanswered questions in your spaces with “Answer”, join requests with “Decide”, messages from your site with “Read”; one row such as “2 requests wait for you in Incoming” for booking requests, store orders and parcels, school requests, partner items, replies from the Dirassa+ team and today’s tasks with “Open”. Under each row, the first two names, and only the first row’s button is orange. A live already on air becomes the first row: “Your live “…” is on air”, with “Join”. Under the rows, “Today”: today’s lives and bookings with their times. Then “Your numbers”: “October revenue” with the change “vs the same days of September” and small bars for the last 30 days, “Your students” with the new ones this month, “Lessons completed in October” with the change, and “Published courses” with the drafts. Each figure opens its page, and “All figures” opens “Analytics”. Before the first course there are no numbers and no zeros: only the setup checklist.

On screenTourYour siteNew courseWaiting for youReviewGradeReplyJoinTodayYour numbersYour studentsPublished coursesAll figures

TipUnder “Your numbers”, the “Your courses” card: the four courses edited last with their status, and “All courses”. On the side of the page, the setup checklist and then “Recent activity”: six recent moments, from a new enrollment and a confirmed payment to a submitted paper and a community post. On a phone it is one column: “Waiting for you”, then “Your numbers”, the setup checklist, “Your courses” and “Recent activity”; and “New course” goes through the “+” in the bottom bar.

Heads-upThe counts in “Waiting for you” are the Inbox’s own, and its “Inbox” link sits at the top of the card; when nothing is left it shrinks to one line: “Nothing is waiting for you”. Each figure in “Your numbers” appears only to members allowed to see it: revenue to those who see revenue figures, “Your students” and lessons to those who see students, courses to those who see courses. A figure that failed to load shows “—” with “Couldn't load” and “Try again”, never a zero.

  2. Step 2 of 8

“Finish setting up your platform”: seven steps

From your first visit, the “Finish setting up your platform” card shows a progress bar with “2 of 7 done” beside it. Below it, the next step, such as “Up next · step 3 of 7”, with a sentence that explains it and a button that takes you there; every step is folded under “All steps”, the finished ones with a tick. The steps, in order: “Create the first course”, “Write the first lesson”, “Publish the course”, “Get it to your students” (ticked with your first student), “Set up payment”, “Make it yours” and “See your platform as your students do”, which opens your site in a new tab and ticks itself as soon as it opens. The button of “Publish the course” opens the draft you edited last, with the “Before publishing” window if it has no published lesson, and never publishes anything by itself. Every step is worked out from your platform’s real state, so there is nothing to tick by hand. Before the first course the checklist leads the page on its own, with an orange button; after that it moves to the side of the page (under “Your numbers” on a phone) with a quiet button, because the orange belongs to what waits for you.

TipIf you picked a colour when you created the academy, “Make it yours” may already be ticked.

Heads-up“Hide” takes the checklist off Home. To get it back, open Settings › General and press “Bring it back” on the “Setup checklist hidden” card. It also goes away on its own once all seven steps are done.

  3. Step 3 of 8

Where everything lives: the column and the panel

On a computer, a dark column runs along the edge. At the top, your organization’s logo, then the sections by name: “Academy”, “Community”, “School” (or “My school” for a teacher who teaches there), “Studio” and “Organization”, whichever your role opens. An orange number on a section means work waiting in it, such as papers to mark or requests to join a space; the section you are in shows none, because its numbers are in its pages. At the bottom of the column: “Noqta”, then the “Inbox”, which gathers what waits for your decision across every section (papers to mark, receipts to review, messages awaiting a reply, join requests, school decisions, today’s tasks, then notifications), then your picture. Beside the column is the section’s panel: all its pages in view, in groups, each with what waits on it. In the academy: “Workspace” (Home, Courses, Students), then “Sales” (“Incoming”, where everything your students send arrives, with the count of what waits for you, then “Cards”, “Payment methods” and “Accounts”), then “Teaching” and “Grow & reach”. At the head of the panel, “+” creates what suits the section; below it, the “Search Academy…” field; at the bottom, “Visit site” and “Settings”.

    On screenAcademyCommunitySchoolMy schoolStudioOrganizationNoqtaInboxWorkspaceTeachingSalesGrow & reach+Search Academy…Visit siteSettings

TipThe button at the head of the panel, or the “[” key, folds it to give the page more room, and your choice is kept for next time. With the panel folded, resting the pointer on a section in the column shows its pages for a moment over the page. A right-click, or a long press, on a section opens its most used pages and what can be created there.

Heads-upThe column shows only the sections your role opens, and the panel only the pages you can open. With a single section, the column shows no section names at all: just the logo, the Inbox and your picture.

  4. Step 4 of 8

    “You are here” and search

At the top of the page, the “You are here” path: the section, then the page, such as “Academy › Students”. Opening a course, a space, a showcase, a certificate programme or a teacher in the school turns the panel into that object: a line back to its list (such as “All courses”), its name, then its tabs. The path grows with it: “Academy › All courses › Product photography on a phone › Students”. The course or space name in the path is a button that lists its neighbours, so you go from one course’s Students straight to another course’s Students. Beside the page’s name, the “Pin here” pin puts it at the top of every panel under “Pinned”. At the other end of the bar there are only three buttons: search, then “Help” (?) with “Tour of this page” when the page has a tour with Noqta (a small orange dot on the button says so), “Guide for this page”, “Ask Noqta” and “All guide lessons”; then your picture. Search also opens with ⌘K or Ctrl K on any page: the name of a page, a course, a student, a space or a sales page, or the word “new” to list what can be created, such as “new course”.

On screenYou are hereAll coursesPin herePinnedHelpTour of this pageGuide for this pageAsk Noqta⌘Knew

TipKeys that save a trip: “[” folds and unfolds the panel, G then I opens the Inbox, ⌘K opens search. In search, “student” before a name looks among students only.

Heads-upSearch finds only what your role allows: a page your role doesn’t open, or a student you aren’t allowed to see, won’t appear in it.

  5. Step 5 of 8

On a phone and a tablet

On a phone, the header starts with your organization’s logo, which opens the menu; inside a course or a space, a back arrow takes its place. Then the page title, search, Noqta’s face and the guide. At the bottom, a floating bar with five fixed places: “Home” (the section’s home), then the section’s main page (“Courses” in the academy, “Tasks” in the organization), then the orange “+” to create, then the “Inbox”, then “Menu”. Menu opens a drawer with the same column and, beside it, the section’s panel: tapping a section in the column changes the panel without leaving the page, tapping a page goes there, and your picture sits at the bottom of the column. On a tablet the column stays in view, and the panel slides over the page from its button in the top bar, or when you press the current section.

    On screenHomeCourses+InboxMenu

TipIn Arabic, swiping in from the right edge of the screen also opens the menu. The bottom bar sits under the page and never covers its buttons, such as the save button at the bottom of some pages.

Heads-up“+” creates in the section you are in, according to your permissions: a course, live class, certificate, sales page or student notification in the academy; a space or a post in the community; a task, event or plan in the organization.

  6. Step 6 of 8

    Your account menu

Your picture (or your initial) sits at the end of the top bar, in the same place on a computer, a tablet and a phone. It opens “Your account”: your name, email and role, then “My account”, “Settings” if your permissions open them, and “Your site” with its real address (in a new tab), then “Plan” with the storage and seats left. Under “Preferences”: “Appearance” Light, Dark or Auto, “Text size” Small, Normal or Large, and “Language”, which opens العربية, Français and English and keeps you on the same page. Last, “Sign out”. On a phone the same menu rises from the bottom of the screen.

On screenYour accountMy accountSettingsYour sitePlanPreferencesAppearanceLightDarkAutoText sizeLanguageSign outSwitch organizationMy student space

TipYour organization’s logo at the top of the column opens its menu: “Settings”, and “My student space” if you are also a student at an organization on Dirassa Plus. Anyone who works in more than one organization finds them all here under “Switch organization”, and a small mark on the logo says so. With a single organization there’s nothing to choose.

Heads-upAppearance and text size are kept in this browser only; on another device, choose again.

  7. Step 7 of 8

My account: you, not your school

The “My account” page belongs to you and follows you into every school you work in; it changes nothing in the school. “Your details”: the “Full name” your team and students see, and “Phone · optional”, then “Save”. “Your picture”: “Add a picture” (JPG, PNG or WebP, cropped square automatically), then “Replace picture” or “Remove”. “Email” is shown only; to change it, press “Contact support”: a conversation with the Dirassa+ team opens in “Support”. “Password”: the current one, then the new one (at least 8 characters) twice, then “Change password”; if you forgot the current one, “Email me a reset link”.

On screenMy accountYour detailsFull namePhone · optionalSaveYour pictureAdd a pictureEmailContact supportPasswordChange passwordEmail me a reset linkSign out everywhere

TipLeft your account signed in on another device? “Sign out everywhere”, then “Confirm: sign out all”, ends every session, this one included.

  8. Step 8 of 8

Noqta: your assistant inside the dashboard

“Noqta” sits at the bottom of the column, above the Inbox; on a phone, her face is in the header. One press opens the chat. Ask her about your numbers — your courses, students, exam results and receipts, from only the data you are allowed to see — or about using Dirassa Plus. The “Show me” section offers interactive tours such as “How do I create a course?”, and when you ask “how do I…” about a page that has a tour, she offers “Let Noqta show you” and “Start”: she takes you to the real page and explains every field without saving anything.

On screenNoqtaWhat shall we discover in your data today?Show meTour with NoqtaStart with a ready questionMy analyticsExam resultsCompare coursesReceiptsLet Noqta show youStart

TipNoqta also works inside the pages themselves: she writes questions in the paper editor and suggests marks in grading. You review everything before you accept it.

Heads-upNoqta appears to members whose role opens the Analytics page. The floating character in a corner of the screen is optional: “Noqta settings” at the head of the chat, then “Show floating character”; the choice is kept in this browser.

Questions

Why does Home show no numbers?

Before the first course, Home shows only “Finish setting up your platform”, because every number would be zero. Create your first course and “Your numbers”, “Your courses” and “Recent activity” appear. If you see “Preparing” and a percentage instead, your academy isn’t open yet: Home is its launch plan until you open it.

What are the launch plan’s steps, and when is “Publish your first course” ticked?

Before your academy opens, Home reads “… is …% ready” and counts the steps: “Created your account”, “Named your academy”, “Your identity: logo and colour”, “Publish your first course”, “How students pay you”, “Preview your academy on your phone”, then “Open your academy”. “Publish your first course” isn’t ticked by a draft or a written lesson: only when a course is published. Its link opens the draft you edited last, with “Before publishing” if it has no published lesson, or “New course” if you have no course yet. A course you publish before the academy opens stays out of students’ sight until you open it.

I hid the setup checklist; how do I get it back?

Open Settings › General and press “Bring it back” on the “Setup checklist hidden” card: it returns to Home.

Do I tick the steps myself?

No. Each step is worked out from your platform: “Publish the course” ticks when a course is published, “Get it to your students” with your first student. Only “See your platform as your students do” ticks when you open your site from its button.

What does “October revenue” in “Your numbers” count?

Confirmed sales since the 1st of the month, Algeria time, by the same definition as in “Analytics”. The percentage beside it compares them with the same days of last month: on 22 October, 1–22 October against 1–22 September, not against the whole of September. The bars under it cover the last 30 days, so their total isn’t the month’s figure.

Where is the full revenue chart?

In “Analytics”: “All figures” at the top of “Your numbers” opens it, and so does the revenue figure itself. Home keeps only small bars for the last 30 days under the figure.

My teacher colleague doesn’t see what I see. Why?

Home, the column and the panel show what each member’s permissions allow. A teacher sees neither revenue nor the setup checklist, finds in “Waiting for you” what waits for them, finds in the column only the sections their role opens, and in the panel only the pages they can open.

What does the orange number on a section mean?

Work waiting for a decision in that section: papers to mark, what waits for you in “Incoming” and support messages in the academy, join requests in the community, requests to decide in the school. A grey number on Organization is a reminder of today’s tasks. The number on the Inbox adds up what waits across every section, plus unread notifications.

Where did the old sidebar go?

It became two parts: the column for the sections and the panel for their pages, and every page is still there. For anyone who needs time: the organization’s logo at the top of the column, then “Classic navigation”, brings the old menu back for now, and a “Back to the new navigation” button then shows at the top of the page.

How do I change the dashboard’s language?

Press your picture at the bottom of the column (on a phone: Menu, then your picture), then “Language”, and choose العربية, Français or English. The language changes and you stay on the same page.

How do I change my email address?

It can’t be changed from My account. Press “Contact support” on the Email card: a conversation with the Dirassa+ team opens in “Support”. Write the new address and we change it after checking; the answer arrives there and in your notifications.

I can’t find Noqta. Where is she?

On a computer or a tablet: “Noqta” at the bottom of the column, above the Inbox. On a phone: her face in the header, beside search. If she isn’t there, your role doesn’t open the Analytics page.
