Packs: several products for one price

A pack is a product built from products you already have, of any kind: a book that ships, a file that opens at once, a course. You set its price and the store works out the rest: the items total and the saving, stock from the tightest item, and how the order splits behind it. In this lesson Nour El Houda Saidi, a baccalaureate maths teacher, builds the “Bac Pack”: her printed summaries book, a PDF exercise set and her online course, for 6,900 DZD instead of 9,000. The same method serves a photographer bundling a print and a presets file, or a marketer bundling a printed guide, digital templates and a course.

  • About 8 minutes
  • 7 steps

Who can do it: Anyone with the “Store and products” permission. In a school, anyone with “Sell their products in the school store” builds packs from their own products only, and their button may be “Send for review” instead of “Publish”.

In 7 steps

  1. 1From “Packs”, click “New pack”, type the name, then “Create the draft: Pack”.
  2. 2In “In the pack”, add the products and the course from the search, order them and set each one’s quantity.
  3. 3For a product with editions: fix one edition, or leave “Buyer chooses” on.
  4. 4Set a “Pack price” below the “Items total”: the saving shows in dinars and percent; then publish.

  1. 5Stock isn’t typed: “Stock: 18 packs” is counted from the tightest item.
  2. 6The order-split section shows what ships, what opens at once and what follows confirmation; in the order, the pack opens into its parts.
  3. 7The buyer sees the pack with its price and saving, each part with its own price, and what arrives when.

Before you start

  • The items must exist first: the book and the file in “Products”, and the course published.
  • Each item’s own price, so you know how much the pack saves.
  • The “Store and products” permission, or “Sell their products in the school store” for a pack of your own products.
  1. Step 1 of 7

The “Packs” page and a new pack

In “Store” → “Catalogue”, click “Packs”: it is the same list as the products, packs only, with the columns “Product”, “Price”, “Stock”, “Status” and “Shown on”. Empty, it reads “No packs yet” (“A pack bundles a course, a book, a file and sessions for one price below their total, with stock counted from the tightest item.”). Click “New pack”: the “New product” page opens with the “Pack” type already picked. Nour types “Bac Pack” and clicks “Create the draft: Pack”; the same editor every product opens in appears, with the pack’s sections: “Photos”, “Name and description”, “In the pack”, “How it splits”, then “Category and links” and “Link and search”. Nothing is created before the button, and nobody sees the draft until you publish.

On screenStoreCataloguePacksProductStockShown onNo packs yetNew packNew productPackCreate the draft: …In the packHow it splits

TipLast season’s pack? In its list, ‹⋯› → “Copy as a new product”: its items are copied along, and the copy starts as a draft.

  2. Step 2 of 7

“In the pack”: add the items and order them

In “In the pack” (“Order them as the buyer sees them”), type in “Add a product, a course or a session…”: your products (except packs and archived ones) and your courses show, each with its kind and price. Nour adds “Maths summaries book” (“Physical”), “Bac exercise set” (“Digital”, 700 DZD) and “Maths course — Bac 2027” (“Course”, 6,500 DZD). Each row shows its photo, tag and price times its quantity, with two arrows for the order, − and + for the quantity (up to 50) and a bin to take it out. The pack saves itself after every change. At the bottom of the drop-down, a “Review session credit” line (“Credit booked from your times”), then “Close”.

On screenIn the packOrder them as the buyer sees themAdd a product, a course or a session…PhysicalDigitalCourseReview session creditCredit booked from your timesClose

TipAn item deleted or archived later shows in the pack as “An item that no longer exists”: take it out or replace it, since the store won’t sell an incomplete pack.

Heads-upThe “Review session credit” line isn’t tied to any booking offer in the pack editor: its price doesn’t count in the total, and that part stays waiting for a booking in the order. Until it is, sell your sessions as a separate “Service or session” product.

  3. Step 3 of 7

A product with editions: a fixed edition, or “Buyer chooses”

Nour’s book has two editions: “Standard” at its base price of 1,400 DZD, and “Colour” at 1,800 DZD. When a product with variants is added, its row comes with “Buyer chooses” switched on and the editions with their prices: “Standard 1,400 · Colour 1,800”. Switch it off and a list appears to fix the edition that always goes in the pack; Nour picks “Colour” and the row becomes 1,800 DZD. If you leave it on, the buyer sees under the book “Choose the edition inside the pack” and the edition buttons: the one at the book’s base price reads “Included”, the dearer one its difference (“+400 DZD”), and the pack price follows. On the price card the “Items total” becomes a range from the cheapest to the dearest choice, and the saving is counted against the dearest.

On screenBuyer choosesChoose the edition inside the packIncludedItems total

TipWith “Buyer chooses”, the pack’s stock is counted from the tightest edition, and a sold-out edition can’t be clicked on the pack page.

Heads-upUnder the total you read “With the cheapest choice the total is 8,600 DZD; the pack price does not change.”, yet the store page adds to the pack price the difference of an edition dearer than the book’s base price (+400 DZD). Set the pack price from the base price, or fix one edition as Nour did.

  4. Step 4 of 7

The price and the saving, then publish

In the side column (at the bottom on the phone), the “Pack price” card: “Items total” 9,000 DZD, then the “Pack price” field and the optional “Cost” field. Nour types 6,900: the total is struck through and “The buyer saves 2,100 DZD” appears with “23%”. A price not below the total would show “The pack price is not below its total”: it doesn’t block publishing, but the pack then has no reason to exist. In “Ready to publish?” a pack needs a name, a price and “At least two items”; the saving and the description are suggestions. Click “Publish”: the “Publish «Bac Pack»?” panel says where it will show (“Website store”, “Student portal”), then “Publish now”.

On screenPack priceItems totalCostThe buyer saves …The pack price is not below its totalReady to publish? At least two itemsPublishPublish «…»?Website storeStudent portalPublish now

TipChange the book’s own price later? The pack price stays as you wrote it, and the book’s editor shows “Packs that hold it keep their price; only their displayed total changes.”.

Heads-upFor a school seller the button may be “Send for review” instead of “Publish”: the school reviews the pack before it shows.

  5. Step 5 of 7

    Stock is counted, not typed

A pack has no stock field. Next to the price, the “Stock: 18 packs” card with “from the tightest item”: one row per item, with a bar and a number. “Maths summaries book · Colour”: 18 pieces; the file and the course: “∞”, as they’re unlimited. So the pack sells while a colour book is left, and drops by itself when the book sells on its own; an item with quantity 2 has its stock divided by 2. A pack whose items are all unlimited reads “Stock: unlimited”. In the “Packs” list the same number shows in the stock column: “18 packs available”, or “Unlimited”.

On screenStock: … packsfrom the tightest itemStock: unlimited… packs availableUnlimited

TipRecord the books you receive in the book’s own editor (“Stock moves”), and the number of packs available rises by itself.

  6. Step 6 of 7

“How the order splits”: one order, several tracks

Under the items, the “How the order splits” section (“One order for the buyer, several tracks behind it”): “Shipped” — the book, with the carrier; “Opens at once” — the exercise set in “My library” the moment it is paid or confirmed; “After confirmation” — the course opens after payment; and “Booked later” is empty: “Nothing on this track.”. Below it: “Something in it ships: cash on delivery is accepted.”. When an order comes in, the pack shows as one line with its price and its parts underneath, each with its own state: the book is held from its stock and shipped, the file delivered, the course opened. The pack price is split across its parts by their own prices: of 6,900 DZD, 5,520 DZD is paid in advance for the file and the course (a BaridiMob or CCP receipt, or a card when one is set up), and 1,380 DZD at the door with delivery.

On screenHow the order splitsOne order for the buyer, several tracks behind itShippedOpens at onceAfter confirmationBooked laterNothing on this track.Something in it ships: cash on delivery is accepted.

TipA pack with nothing that ships (a file and a course, say) reads “Nothing in it ships: it is paid in advance.”: it is paid in full before delivery, and no address is asked.

Heads-upA course inside a pack opens in an account: if the buyer orders without one, their order page says “Create your account to open the course” with “Create my account”, using the same phone number.

  7. Step 7 of 7

    What the buyer sees

In the store the pack shows as a wide tile: its photo, its items with their icons, the price 6,900 DZD with 9,000 struck through, “-23%”, “Save 2,100 DZD” and the “Order the pack” button. On its page, one row per part: the book with “Colour” under it, the file and the course with “Unlocks as soon as you pay”, and beside each “… DZD on its own”, then “Bought separately: 9,000 DZD — you save 2,100 DZD.”. Next comes “What you get, and when”: “Now” (the file and the course) and “With the parcel” (the book). Because it holds a book, the buyer fills in the cash-on-delivery form, then moves to the payment page to pay the file and course share. And a student who already bought the course, signed in, doesn’t pay for it twice: the tile reads “Complete the pack for just 1,917 DZD”.

On screenOrder the packSave … DZDUnlocks as soon as you pay… DZD on its ownBought separately: … DZD — you save … DZD.What you get, and whenNowWith the parcelComplete the pack for just … DZD

TipWith “Buyer chooses”, “Choose the edition inside the pack” shows under the book, and each edition reads “Included” or its difference.

Heads-upA student who already owns every part of the pack sees no buy button, and the store refuses her order.

Questions

Can I put a pack inside a pack?

No. Packs don’t show in the “In the pack” search, and saving refuses them. Add their items directly.

How many items can a pack hold?

At least two to be published, and up to 20, each with a quantity from 1 to 50.

What does the buyer pay now, and on delivery?

The pack price is split across its parts by their own prices. For the “Bac Pack” (6,900 DZD out of a 9,000 total), 5,520 DZD is paid in advance for the file and the course, and 1,380 DZD at the door with delivery. A pack with nothing that ships is paid in full in advance.

Can I add review sessions to the pack?

The “Review session credit” line exists, but the pack editor doesn’t tie it to a booking offer: its price doesn’t count in the total, and that part stays waiting for a booking in the order. For now, sell sessions as a separate product.

A student already owns the course: does she pay for it again?

No, if she is signed in. The files, courses and subscriptions she owns come off the pack price by their share: she has the course (6,500 of 9,000), so she pays 1,917 DZD and reads on the tile “Complete the pack for just 1,917 DZD”. Someone who owns everything can’t buy it.

I changed the book’s price: does the pack price change?

No. The pack price is what you wrote in “Pack price”. Only the displayed “Items total” and the saving worked out from it change.
