How to get paid by your students in Algeria: BaridiMob, CCP, Edahabia, cash on delivery and activation cards

The problem isn't that students won't pay — it's that they can't find a way that works for them. Five payment methods, when to use each, and how to manage them without spending your day in messages.

Ask any teacher who has tried selling online in Algeria about the hardest part and you'll hear almost the same answer: payment. Not because students won't pay, but because many have no card to pay online, many are minors whose parents pay, and some aren't ready to pay upfront yet.

The fix isn't one “best” payment method — it's accepting every method your students actually have, and managing them all in one place.

1. BaridiMob and CCP: the most widespread

Most Algerian families have a CCP account, and BaridiMob has made transfers an everyday thing. It works simply:

  1. The student chooses the course and sees your account number and the amount clearly.
  2. They transfer through BaridiMob or at the post-office counter.
  3. They upload a photo of the receipt on the payment page itself, with a note if they like.
  4. You check the money has arrived and approve the order in one tap — access opens automatically.

2. Edahabia and CIB: for instant access

For students with an Edahabia or CIB card, paying online means instant access without waiting for your review. You connect your own Chargily Pay account: the student pays on a secure page, the money reaches your account, and access opens as soon as the payment is confirmed.

3. Cash on delivery: to build trust

Some students — and especially some parents — won't pay upfront to a teacher they don't know yet. Cash on delivery removes that barrier and fits physical products perfectly: a book, a printed summary, or an activation card delivered home.

  1. The student orders and leaves an address and phone number.
  2. You confirm the order by phone before shipping — a step that cuts fake orders sharply.
  3. You ship with your delivery company and record the tracking number and the amount to collect.
  4. On delivery the student pays and unlocks the course with the code they received.

4. Activation cards: selling for cash, as everyone is used to

This method is made for Algeria's reality. You create a batch of priced codes, print them as neat cards with your logo and a QR code, and sell them for cash: in your class, at a partner bookshop, or through a reseller. The student enters the code in the academy and the lesson opens right away.

  • Perfect for in-person students: they pay you cash as always, and get the digital part with the code.
  • Perfect for partner sales: bookshops near secondary schools are natural points of sale.
  • Full tracking: you know how many codes each batch sold, who activated them and when.

5. Instalments and subscriptions: when the amount is the obstacle

Sometimes the student wants the course, but the full amount at once is too much. Instalments (2 to 12 payments) or a monthly subscription solve that without lowering your price. Worked examples are in our course pricing guide.

How not to spend your day chasing payments

  • One place for every order: each with its status (awaiting review, approved, declined) instead of dozens of chats.
  • Receipt declined? The student sends a corrected receipt on the same order, without starting over.
  • A clear history: who paid, how and when — useful for your books and your tax returns.
  • Student notification: as soon as you approve, they're notified and find their course open.

Frequently asked questions

Does the money go through Dirassa+ first?

No. Transfers reach your postal or bank account directly, and card payments go through your own Chargily Pay account. Dirassa+ takes 0% commission on your sales.

How do I check a BaridiMob receipt is real?

Don't rely on the photo alone. Check the money arrived in BaridiMob or on your statement and that the transaction number matches, then approve.

Can a student buy without a bank account?

Yes: with cash on delivery, by buying an activation card with cash, or by transferring at the post-office counter.

Can activation cards be sold in bookshops?

Yes. You print code cards, hand them to a partner bookshop that sells them for cash, and track from your academy how many codes from each batch were activated.
