# Make a promo video in Dirassa Studio

> Launching a course, running a photography workshop, selling a product, hosting an event? Dirassa Studio’s “Promo videos” module takes your idea, its facts, your logo and your brand color; the director writes the story and builds every shot for your idea, with motion and music, and a voiceover if you want one. You then edit texts, timings and transitions for free, rebuild a shot with a note, and export an MP4 ready to post.

- Time: About 10 minutes
- Who can do it: Requires Dirassa Studio on your computer, signed in with your Dirassa Plus account, and coins in your school.

## In short
1. Open “Promo videos” under “Create”, press “New video”, describe what you’re promoting with its facts, and pick the format.
2. In “Your brand”: logo, name, brand color and style, plus up to 4 images described for the director.
3. Choose the length (15 to 60 s, 15 to 45 coins) and the voiceover, then “Direct my film”.
4. Edit every shot for free — texts, length, transition, background — or “Rebuild” it with a note for 2 coins.
5. Set the sound, then “Export MP4”: a file in your film’s format, with music and effects.

## Before you start
- This module is in Dirassa Studio 0.1.6 and later. If you don’t see it, update the app: the update arrives on its own, or download the latest from “Downloads & devices”.
- Dirassa Studio installed on your computer and signed in with your Dirassa Plus account; download it from “Downloads & devices” (/dashboard/studio/downloads). The module sits in the “Create” group as “Promo videos”, marked “Beta”.
- Coins in “Balance”: 15 coins for a 15 s film, 25 for 30 s, 35 for 45 s, 45 for 60 s. Editing afterwards is free.
- Your offer’s facts at hand: price, date, numbers, offer. Only what you write appears in the film.
- Your logo as an image and, if you like, up to 4 images: your product, a screenshot or your photo.

## The steps

### 1. The idea and what you’re promoting
In Dirassa Studio’s sidebar, under “Create”, open “Promo videos” (“A marketing film from your idea”). On its first page, “A marketing film, directed for you”, press “New video” to reach “Tell us about your film”. In “What are you promoting?” choose “My course”, “My project”, “A product”, “An event” or “A free idea”, then describe your idea, even in two sentences: a phone product-photography workshop, Saturday 18 October at 18:00, online, 2,500 DZD. “Include the facts you want shown: prices, dates, numbers, offers.” Add the “Audience” and “Call to action”, and “Your hook — the opening line” if you have one. Then “Format”: “Reel” 9:16 for Instagram and TikTok, “Landscape” 16:9 for YouTube and your website, or “Square” 1:1 for a feed post. Under “Language and tone”, pick the “On-screen language” (Algerian Darija, Standard Arabic, French or English) and the “Tone”.
On screen: «Create»، «Promo videos»، «A marketing film, directed for you»، «New video»، «Tell us about your film»، «What are you promoting?»، «My course»، «My project»، «A product»، «An event»، «A free idea»، «Audience»، «Call to action»، «Your hook — the opening line»، «Format»، «Reel»، «Landscape»، «Square»، «Language and tone»، «On-screen language»، «Tone»
Tip: No opening line? Leave the hook empty: “Leave it empty and we'll write the strongest hook and pick a fresh angle for your ad.” The small preview at the side takes the shape of the format you pick.
Heads-up: The format is chosen here and doesn’t change after directing: a reel exports as a reel. For a landscape version of the same idea, create a new film, which is charged again.

### 2. Your brand: logo, color, images
In “Your brand”, press “Upload logo”, type the “Name” (brand or teacher, required) and the “Tagline” if you have one short line. The “Brand color” is your color across the whole film, and the “Style” sets its backgrounds: “Dark”, “Light” or “Mixed” (“Mixed alternates dark and light shots.”). If you’ve already saved your identity in Dirassa Studio, “Use my studio identity” fills in name, color and logo. Then “Images” (“Optional”): product photos, screenshots or your face, up to 4, each with a “What does it show?” line so the director knows what’s in it. After directing, the editor’s “Brand” tab changes the color and style across the film, picks the “Fonts” — “Headline” and “Body” from six (Readex Pro, Cairo, Tajawal, IBM Plex Sans Arabic, Amiri, Geist Sans) — and offers “Replace logo”.
On screen: «Your brand»، «Upload logo»، «Name»، «Tagline»، «Brand color»، «Style»، «Dark»، «Light»، «Mixed»، «Use my studio identity»، «Images»، «Optional»، «Add images»، «What does it show?»، «Brand»، «Fonts»، «Headline»، «Body»، «Replace logo»
Tip: Describe each image in one short sentence (“soap on a wooden table”, “a screenshot of the dashboard”): the director reads the description instead of guessing.
Heads-up: “Direct my film” stays disabled until the idea and the name are there: “Write at least a sentence about your idea and your brand name.”

### 3. Length and sound, then “Direct my film”
Under “Length”, pick 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds; each shows its price: 15 coins for 15 s, 25 for 30 s, 35 for 45 s, 45 for 60 s. The side panel sums up “Format”, “Length”, “Shots” (4–5 shots for 15 s, 6–8 for 30 s, 8–10 for 45 s, 10–12 for 60 s), “Editing afterwards” “Free”, and the “Cost”. Under “Voiceover”, choose “Music only” or “With a narrator”: a voice reads a script the director writes and fully vowels, over lowered music; for a Darija film pick one of the “Algerian voices”, and press “Listen” before choosing. The voiceover doesn’t change the price. Then press “Direct my film”: the price is reserved and “Directing your film” (“About one to two minutes”) shows its stages: “The director writes the story and the shots”, “Recording the voiceover…” if you asked for one, “Every shot is built with motion” with a shot counter, then “Checking every shot and polishing the layout…”: a check that fixes text running off the frame or overlapping. The director picks each idea’s own visual language — kinetic type, illustration, an interface on a phone, your own images, or a mix — so your film doesn’t come out of a ready-made template.
On screen: «Length»، «Format»، «Shots»، «Editing afterwards»، «Free»، «Cost»، «Voiceover»، «Music only»، «With a narrator»، «Algerian voices»، «Listen»، «Direct my film»، «Directing your film»، «The director writes the story and the shots»، «Recording the voiceover…»، «Every shot is built with motion»، «Checking every shot and polishing the layout…»
Tip: No need to wait for the whole film: finished shots appear in the preview as they land, with “Building shots · N of N” at the top.
Heads-up: If the director fails, the price is refunded in full (“The directing service is not responding. Nothing was charged.”), and likewise if more than half the shots fail (“Directing failed. Your coins were refunded.”). If one or two shots fail, the film is charged and each can be written again for 2 coins. “Your balance is not enough for this film.” charges nothing: press “Top up”.

### 4. Review and edit the shots
Once the film is done it starts playing in the preview, with the shot strip below: one card per shot, with its name, length and transition. Pick a shot; in the “Shot” tab you get “Texts” (“Edit any text here, or click it in the preview while paused.”), “Shot length” (“The shot's animation speeds up or slows down to fit.”), “Transition into this shot” — cut, fade, slide, zoom, wipe or blur — and its length, and “This shot's background”, dark or light. For a different shot, write in “Rebuild this shot” what should change (“show the phone bigger, use the table photo”) and press “Rebuild” for “2 coins”: the shot is reworked to your note and the rest of the film stays as it is. At the bottom of the panel: “Duplicate shot”, “Hide from the film”, “Delete shot”, and “Move up” / “Move down” to reorder. Every edit saves itself (“All changes saved”); “Undo” and “Redo” sit at the top.
On screen: «Shot»، «Texts»، «Shot length»، «Transition into this shot»، «This shot's background»، «Rebuild this shot»، «Rebuild»، «2 coins»، «Duplicate shot»، «Hide from the film»، «Delete shot»، «Move up»، «Move down»، «Undo»، «Redo»، «All changes saved»، «Code»
Tip: A card with a red mark? “This shot couldn't be written.”: press “Write it again · 2 coins”. If you know HTML and CSS, the “Code” tab shows each shot’s code and the “Shared style of the film”; every change shows in the preview right away.
Heads-up: “Rebuild” costs 2 coins every time, refunded if the writing fails. Texts, lengths, transitions and colors you edit by hand for free, so start there.

### 5. The sound, then “Export MP4”
In the “Sound” tab, pick the “Mood” — upbeat, calm, cinematic, playful or corporate — then the “Mix”: “Volume”, “Interface effects”, “A breath before the last shot”, “Voiceover” if the film has one, and “Music level”. “Press play to hear it. The exported file is normalised to the platform level.” Then press “Export MP4” at the top and choose where to save. The “Exporting your film” window goes through “Rendering frames”, “Mixing the sound” and “Writing the MP4”, until “Your film is ready” with the file’s path, and “Done”. The file is in your film’s format at full resolution, 30 frames per second, with the music, effects and voiceover. Hidden shots are left out.
On screen: «Sound»، «Mood»، «Mix»، «Volume»، «Interface effects»، «A breath before the last shot»، «Voiceover»، «Music level»، «Export MP4»، «Exporting your film»، «Rendering frames»، «Mixing the sound»، «Writing the MP4»، «Your film is ready»، «Done»
Tip: Exporting is free, so export again after every change: open the film from “My videos”, edit, export.
Heads-up: “This computer cannot encode H.264 video. Update the system and try again.” means the obstacle is your computer’s system, not your film: update it, then export. If “The export failed. Try again.” appears, press “Export MP4” again; your film is saved and nothing is charged.

## After exporting
- Post it: Upload the file to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or your website.
- Another format: A new film of the same idea in another format, at a film’s price.
- Come back to it: Your films live in “My videos”: edit and re-export for free.
- Watch your balance: Spending and refunds in “Balance”.

## Questions

**How much does a promo video cost?**
By length: 15 coins for 15 s, 25 for 30 s, 35 for 45 s and 45 for 60 s, with or without a voiceover. Rebuilding a shot is 2 coins. Everything else is free: texts, lengths, transitions, colors, fonts, sound and export.

**What if directing fails?**
The price is reserved when you press “Direct my film”. If the director fails it’s refunded in full, and so is it if more than half the shots fail. Below that, the film is charged and each failed shot can be written again for 2 coins with “Write it again · 2 coins”. A rebuild that fails is refunded.

**Is the film made from a template?**
No. The director writes the story, then builds every shot for your idea alone: kinetic type, illustration, an interface on a device screen, your images, or a mix — what suits a photography workshop doesn’t suit a soap shop. What stays in your hands: brand color, style, fonts, texts, lengths, transitions and sound.

**Does it make up numbers or promises?**
The director is told to show only the facts you wrote: “Only facts you write here appear in the film — no invented numbers.” So write the price, date and numbers exactly, and read each shot’s “Texts” before exporting.

**What language does the film speak?**
The one you pick in “On-screen language”: Algerian Darija, Standard Arabic, French or English. For a Darija voiceover, pick one of the “Algerian voices”: “Designed for Dirassa+ with a native Algiers accent — the right choice for Darija.”

**Can I edit the voiceover script?**
It shows, read-only, in each shot under “Voiceover (as spoken)”. You can switch it off in the “Sound” tab without deleting it, or change the “Music level” beneath it.

**Can I export the same film as a reel and a square?**
No: the format is chosen before directing and the film exports in it. For another format, create a new film of the same idea, charged as a new film.

**Where are my films kept?**
On your computer, in the module’s “My videos”, and every edit saves itself. They don’t move to another computer, so keep the MP4 you exported. Deleting a film from “My videos” is permanent.
