# Make an animated explainer for your lesson in Dirassa Studio

> You say “half the plate vegetables, a quarter protein, a quarter starches”, and the learner only keeps what they saw. “Animated explainers” turns the part you said into an explanation board in your colours: the model draws it step by step, and the engine animates it in time with your words. It lands on its own track in the video editor, over your recording; every element is edited with a click, for free, and it’s drawn into the video when you export.

- Time: A few minutes per clip
- Who can do it: Requires Dirassa Studio linked to your school, permission to edit lessons in your role, coins, and a recording open in the editor.

## In short
1. In the “Video editor”, “Explain” stage: select a line or a paragraph on the captions track, then “Add motion” and set the “Segment” to 3–60 seconds.
2. In “Design”, choose the goal, how it appears and the detail level, then “Generate motion”: 3 coins up to 20 seconds, 4 up to 60, 5 for “Rich”; refunded if you cancel or it fails.
3. Review the version, then “Use this version”, and edit its colours and elements for free.
4. Arrange the clip on its track, reuse the library for free, then export the video from the editor.

## Before you start
- Dirassa Studio installed on your computer and linked to your school; download it from “Downloads & devices” in the dashboard (/dashboard/studio/downloads).
- A lesson recording in the editor, ideally transcribed: the text comes from the captions with their word timings; otherwise you write it yourself.
- Coins in “Balance”: 3, 4 or 5 per clip; editing afterwards is free.
- Your colours in “My identity”: the explainer takes its primary and accent colours from there.
- One idea per clip: 3 to 60 seconds of your speech.

## The steps

### 1. Pick the part to explain
The explainer starts from your own words. Open the recording in the “Video editor” from the “Media library”, and move to the “Explain” stage. On the captions track, hover a line and press its “Make motion for this line” button to select it; for a whole paragraph, click the first, then Shift + click the last. In the sidebar, press “Add motion” (“Turn one clear idea into a visual explanation.”): the “Motion workspace” opens on three steps, “Segment”, “Design” and “Review”. In “Segment”, set “In · seconds” and “Out · seconds” by typing, with “Use timeline selection”, or with the I and O keys at the playhead, and hear the part with “Play segment”. “Choose 3–60 seconds.” Under “What should the visual explain?” is the part’s text as transcribed: “Edit the transcript, or write your own text. Existing word timings stay attached; added words use estimated timings.” Then “Continue to design”.
On screen: «Video editor»، «Media library»، «Explain»، «Make motion for this line»، «Add motion»، «Motion workspace»، «Segment»، «Design»، «Review»، «In · seconds»، «Out · seconds»، «Use timeline selection»، «Play segment»، «What should the visual explain?»، «Continue to design»
Tip: A word, name or term transcribed wrong? Press “Correct text with AI” before designing: it fixes what was misheard without changing your dialect, and the words keep their timing. It costs no coins and counts as one question of Noqta’s daily allowance.
Heads-up: Under 3 seconds, over 60 seconds, or empty text keeps “Continue to design” disabled: “Select a 3–60 second range and add text to continue.”

### 2. Design the explainer and generate it
In “Design” you choose, for free, how the explanation is drawn: the “Teaching goal” (“Let the content guide it”, “Number / percentage”, “Steps”, “Comparison”, “Key term”, “Rule / takeaway” or “Visual explanation”), “How it appears”, “Over the video” (“Transparent background, with space for captions and camera.”) or “Full frame” (“A deliberate full frame explanation covering the video.”), the “Motion detail”, “Focused” or “Rich”, and the “Creative direction” (“Colors, what to highlight, things to avoid…”). In the “Storyboard”, “Build a plan from text” suggests beats you can edit before generating. The price is written at the bottom of the panel, such as “3 coins · generation”: 3 coins up to 20 seconds, 4 beyond that up to 60, and 5 for “Rich”, whatever the length. Press “Generate motion” and you move to “Review”: “Creating your visual explanation”, with “Reading the script…”, “Choosing the idea…”, “Building the scene…”, “Checking every frame…” and “Polishing…”. The model draws the board step by step and the engine animates it on your words; “You can return to the editor. The request and job reference are saved.” Then the version arrives with a “Draft” badge, the “Creative concept”, “Original video” and “With motion” to compare, the “Scenes”, and a “Visual checks passed” or “Visual review incomplete” badge. Like it? “Use this version” puts it on its track.
On screen: «Design»، «Teaching goal»، «How it appears»، «Over the video»، «Full frame»، «Motion detail»، «Focused»، «Rich»، «Creative direction»، «Storyboard»، «Build a plan from text»، «Generate motion»، «Creative concept»، «Original video»، «With motion»، «Scenes»، «Use this version»
Tip: “Cancel generation” while it works refunds the coins in full, and so does a failure: you see “Generation did not complete. Return to Design, review the settings and price, then try again.” and the price goes back to your balance. With “Not enough coins for this clip. Top up and try again.”, nothing is charged.
Heads-up: “Make a new version” reopens “Design” on the same part, and the generation that follows is charged again; every version stays under “Saved versions”. If the connection drops while it generates, you see “Generation could not be confirmed. Check the saved job; do not create a duplicate request.”: press “Check saved generation” instead of generating again, so you don’t pay twice.

### 3. Edit the explainer by hand, for free
In “Review”, under “Quick adjustments · free”: the “Clip title”, the “Motion opacity”, the “Background strength” that darkens the video underneath so it reads, the “Primary color” and the “Accent color”. To change one thing in particular, press “Edit elements · free”, or double-click the clip on its track: the “Element editor” takes over the sidebar. “Click the exact thing you want, then drag it. Double-click grabs the whole card.”, or pick it from “What's in this scene”. For the chosen element: rewrite its text in its field, or “Double-click to type” on the preview, “Smaller” / “Bigger”, “Change color”, “Opacity”, the font for “This one” or “All text (N)”, “Rotate” on the preview, “Hide” and “Reset”; “Undo” takes back the last step, then “Done”. None of this costs coins.
On screen: «Quick adjustments · free»، «Clip title»، «Motion opacity»، «Background strength»، «Primary color»، «Accent color»، «Edit elements · free»، «Element editor»، «What's in this scene»، «Double-click to type»، «Smaller»، «Bigger»، «Change color»، «This one»، «Hide»، «Undo»، «Done»
Tip: All your clips, from all your lessons, are in the “Explainer library” (“Every clip you have generated, across all your lessons”): open “Animated explainers” under “Create” in the Studio’s sidebar, “Search by clip, lesson or idea”, open a clip to edit it with the same tools, then “Save to lesson”.
Heads-up: Hid an element and need it back? “Restore hidden” in the “Element editor” returns it. And “Clear all edits” puts the clip back the way it was generated: use it on purpose.

### 4. On the track, then in the video
The clip lands on the timeline’s explainer track (“Explainers generated from your own words.”). Drag it to move it, or drag its edges to shorten or lengthen it. It’s tied to your words, not to the second: if you cut something before it, it slides along. One click selects it (“Drawn explanation” heads the sidebar), a double-click opens the “Element editor”. All the lesson’s clips are in the “Animated explainers” tool of the “Explain” stage: under “This lesson”, each with its state (“On timeline”, “Draft”, “Archived”) and number of scenes; click one to go back to “Review”. The Delete key on a selected clip deletes nothing: “Moved to your library.” with “Undo”, and it stays under “This lesson” as “Archived”; open it, then “Use this version” to bring it back. From “Library” you place a clip from another lesson on the selected part with “Place here”, for free. And when you export the video from the editor, the explainers are drawn into it.
On screen: «Animated explainers»، «This lesson»، «Moved to your library.»، «Undo»، «Library»، «Place here»
Tip: “Place here” puts the scene down as it is, with the text written in it, not the new part’s words: good for a structure that comes back (a cycle, steps, a comparison), then rewrite its texts in the “Element editor”.
Heads-up: Using one version of an explainer takes its other versions off the track, so it never shows twice; they stay kept under “Saved versions”.

## After the explainer
- Finish the edit: Captions, zoom and cuts in the “Video editor”, on the same timeline.
- Grow your library: Every clip stays in the “Explainer library” and is placed again for free.
- Publish the lesson: Export the video and send it to its lesson on Dirassa Plus.
- Watch your balance: What explainers cost, in “Balance” and on the web under “Coins”.

## Questions

**How much does an explainer cost?**
3 coins up to 20 seconds, 4 coins beyond that up to 60 seconds, and 5 coins for “Rich”, whatever the length. The price shows at the bottom of “Design” before you press “Generate motion”, and it’s refunded in full if generation fails or you press “Cancel generation”. Editing and “Place here” are free; “Make a new version” leads to a new, charged generation.

**What is the difference between “Focused” and “Rich”?**
“Rich” asks for more elements and richer transitions, for 5 coins whatever the length. “Focused” follows the length price: 3 coins up to 20 seconds, 4 up to 60.

**Do I need a transcribed recording?**
It helps. The part is chosen from your recording (3 to 60 seconds) and the text comes from its captions with their word timings. Without a transcript, write the idea under “What should the visual explain?”: added words use estimated timings.

**What does the clip look like? Does it have sound?**
A drawn board of shapes and text that builds step by step, with no sound of its own: your voice in the recording carries it. “Over the video” keeps a transparent background with room for captions and camera; “Full frame” fills the frame and covers the video while it shows.

**Is it a separate video file?**
No. It stays an editable clip in its lesson, with its elements, texts and colours, and it’s drawn into the video when you export from the editor.

**Some of my words were transcribed wrong — what do I do?**
In “Segment”, fix them by hand in the text field, or press “Correct text with AI”: it fixes what was misheard and the words keep their timing, with no coins.

**I removed a clip by mistake — is it gone?**
No. Delete moves it to your library (“Moved to your library.” with “Undo”). Once the notice is gone, it stays under “This lesson” as “Archived”: open it, then “Use this version”, for free.

**How does the explainer get my school’s colours?**
From “My identity”: the two colours saved there. After generating, each clip’s “Primary color” and “Accent color” change under “Quick adjustments · free”.

**Where do I find everything I generated?**
In the “Explainer library”: “Animated explainers” under “Create” in the Studio’s sidebar. Search by clip, lesson or idea, edit any clip, then “Save to lesson”.
