# Lesson mode: what your student sees when they open a lesson

> When your student opens a lesson, the portal’s menus step aside and the lesson stands alone: a bar with the course and where they are in it, the video first on a phone, then the explanation block by block, and beside it the curriculum, their notes and their questions. At the end, “After the lesson”: its questions, files, rating, then “Complete and go to the next”. This lesson shows the page as they see it, so you can explain it and know which settings change it.

- Time: About 5 minutes
- Who can do it: What every student enrolled in the course sees (and a visitor on a free preview lesson).

## In short
1. The top bar: back to the course, “Lesson n of m” and the course percentage.
2. The video and blocks: watermark, resume, chapters, lesson map, and selecting text to ask or note.
3. Curriculum, notes and questions: a side panel on desktop, a bottom bar on phones.
4. “After the lesson”: questions, files, their questions, the rating, then complete and move on.
5. What you change from the lesson editor and settings.

## Before you start
- A published lesson in a course (students only see the published version).
- To see it yourself: “Preview as a student” in the editor shows only the blocks; the full page needs a test student account.

## The steps

### 1. The top bar
In every lesson the portal’s menu, header and tab bar disappear; one bar remains: the “Back to course” arrow, the course name, and under it “Lesson 4 of 12” and “33% of the course”, with a thin progress line along its edge. On desktop, “Previous” and “Next: …” with the next lesson’s name. Then the lesson header: chapter, title, length, and “Completed” once done.
On screen: «Back to course»، «Lesson 4 of 12»، «33% of the course»، «Previous»، «Completed»
Tip: The percentage and “Lesson n of m” count published lessons only.

### 2. The video, the explanation and selecting text
On a phone the video comes first, full width; on desktop, after the title. The student’s name drifts across it as a watermark, it resumes where they stopped, and under it “In this video”: chapters to scroll. While the video is still processing, the student sees “The video is being prepared” in its place — “It will appear here once it's ready — check back shortly.” — and “The video can't be played” if it failed, never the video host’s own error screen. Then the description, the “Lesson map” if you published one from the Studio, then the blocks: an exercise whose solution opens with “Show the first step of the solution”, a summary with “Add to my notebook”, code to copy, a PDF to open. When the student selects a sentence, a small bar appears: “Ask the teacher” and “Add to my notes”.
On screen: «In this video»، «The video is being prepared»، «Lesson map»، «Show the first step of the solution»، «Add to my notebook»، «Ask the teacher»، «Add to my notes»
Tip: “Add to my notebook” copies the summary into their notes with the video moment: ideal for revising before the exam.

### 3. Curriculum, my notes, my questions
On a wide desktop, a “Lesson” panel with three tabs: “Course”, “My notes” and “My questions” with counts, and at the bottom “Complete lesson”. On a phone, a bottom bar: “Course” (a “Course content” sheet), “My notes”, “Ask” with a dot when a reply arrives, and the complete button. Notes are “Yours alone — your teacher cannot see these.”, with “New note” and “Link to this moment”, all gathered in the course’s “My notebook” (with “My mistakes” and “Print”). A question: “Which part needs explaining?”, with the video moment and the selected sentence, then “Send question”; its state goes from “Awaiting reply” to “Reply received” to “Resolved”.
On screen: «Lesson»، «Course»، «My notes»، «My questions»، «Complete lesson»، «Ask»، «Course content»، «Link to this moment»، «My notebook»، «Which part needs explaining?»، «Send question»، «Awaiting reply»، «Reply received»، «Resolved»
Tip: Lesson questions reach you in Support and in the Inbox, with the lesson name and video moment.

### 4. “After the lesson” and the next lesson
At the end, an “After the lesson” box, in order: the lesson’s questions as one row called “Check your understanding”, with “Practice · 6 questions · about 5 min” and “Start” (in an exam lesson, the paper comes first, under its own name) — if they started it without handing in, the row says “Resume at question 3 · 2/6 answered” with “Resume”, and once handed in, their mark and “Review your mistakes (2)” — then its files row by row (“Open or download”, or read-only as you chose), then their questions about the lesson if they asked any, then “How was this lesson?”: a scale from “Poor” to “Excellent”, saved with one tap, an optional note, and your reply under it if you wrote one. Then the next-lesson card: “Complete and go to the next”, or “Go to the next lesson” once done — unless they left the lesson’s paper open: then “Resume” becomes the button forward and “Go to the next lesson” steps back; on the last lesson, “Last lesson of the course” and “Finish the course” → “Course finished” (the certificate may open then).
On screen: «After the lesson»، «Check your understanding»، «Start»، «Resume»، «Open or download»، «How was this lesson?»، «Complete and go to the next»، «Go to the next lesson»، «Last lesson of the course»، «Finish the course»، «Course finished»

### 5. What you change
From the lesson editor and settings: who can open it and when it opens (a locked lesson tells the student what’s missing); “Coming soon”, which shows only the title and “This lesson is being prepared”; the lesson length in the header; the first video becomes the top video, with its chapters and poster; the order of blocks and sections, hidden blocks never arriving; downloadable or read-only for each file; the lesson questions and their format; and your reply to the rating. Content arrives after publishing, settings and files at once.
On screen: «This lesson is being prepared»
Heads-up: “Preview as a student” in the editor shows only the blocks and files: not the bar, the panel or “After the lesson”.

## What comes next
- Write the lesson: Blocks and their order in the lesson editor.
- Answer their questions: Lesson questions in Support and the Inbox.
- Unlock in order: When it opens, in the curriculum or the lesson settings.

## Questions

**Where does a student write notes, and can I see them?**
In “My notes” during the lesson, all gathered in the course’s “My notebook”. They are theirs alone — the teacher can’t see them.

**How does a student ask me about a sentence?**
They select it and choose “Ask the teacher”, or “Ask” on a phone. The question reaches you with the sentence and the video moment.

**My student can’t find the next-lesson button**
On a phone it’s in the bottom bar; on desktop at the foot of the side panel; and the “Complete and go to the next” card closes the lesson. If the next one is locked, it says what’s missing. And if they left the lesson’s paper open after completing it, “Go to the next lesson” steps back and “Resume” on the paper’s row becomes the button forward.

**Does the student see how much data a lesson uses?**
No. That figure shows only to you, in the editor and the publish panel.

**Why does the student only see the lesson’s title?**
It is “Coming soon” or locked by when it opens: they see “This lesson is being prepared” or what’s missing to unlock it.
