# Sizes and colours: one product, every combination

> A shirt in four sizes and two colours is not eight products: it is one product with two options, and the table builds itself from them. Every combination has its own price, stock and SKU, and you only type what differs. In this lesson Karim Bouzid, a fitness coach, puts his “Training shirt” in his store in sizes S to XL and two colours, at 2,200 DZD, with XL 200 DZD dearer and one combination sold out. The same steps serve a photographer selling prints in several formats, a designer selling notebooks in colours, or a teacher selling a book in two editions.

- Time: About 10 minutes
- Who can do it: Anyone with the “Store and products” permission. In a school where teachers sell, anyone with “Sell their products in the school store” does the same, on their own products only.

## In short
1. From “New product”, pick “Physical with variants”, or add an option to an existing physical product.
2. In “Options”, add “Size” and “Colour” and their values: up to 3 options, each multiplying the variants.
3. The “Variants” table builds itself (4 × 2 = 8): type price, stock and SKU only where they differ, or change every XL at once.
4. Tie photos to colours in “Photos”, and switch on the size guide for the buyer.
5. Once live, each combination’s stock changes through “Stock moves” with a reason, and the list flags what is sold out or nearly.
6. The buyer picks size and colour: what doesn’t sell is crossed out, the price difference is shown, and “Notify me when available” appears when nothing is left.
7. To stop a combination, switch “On sale” off; removing a value with orders offers “Stop selling it instead”.

## Before you start
- The “Store and products” permission, or “Sell their products in the school store” for a school seller.
- A list of what you really have: the sizes and colours in stock, and how many pieces per combination (0 for what hasn’t arrived).
- A photo per colour, and the packed weight of one piece: without a weight the delivery price is unknown and the product can’t be published.

## The steps

### 1. Start a product with variants
In the column, open “Store” and, in the “Catalogue” group, click “Products” then “New product”. Under “All types”, pick “Physical with variants” (“Sizes, colours, editions; each variant has its own price, stock and SKU.”), type the name and click “Create the draft: Physical with variants”. Or write one line in “Describe what you sell”, like the ready example “A shirt in sizes S to XL”, and click “Suggest”: the type, name and price are suggested and you confirm. Karim types “Training shirt”; the editor opens with the “Variants” tag next to the name and a “Size” option waiting for its values. The section bar at the top jumps to “Options”, then to “Variants” and the size guide once values exist, down to “Ready to publish?”. Everything saves by itself, and nobody sees the draft until you publish.
On screen: «Store»، «Catalogue»، «Products»، «New product»، «All types»، «Physical with variants»، «Describe what you sell»، «Suggest»، «Create the draft: …»، «Variants»، «Ready to publish?»
Tip: Already selling a physical product without sizes? Don’t create a new one: open it and add an option in “Options”, and its variant table builds itself.

### 2. “Options”: size, colour and their values
In “Options” (“Each option multiplies the variants · up to 3”), click “Add an option”: “Size” shows to the buyer as “buttons”, “Colour” as “colour dots”, “Edition” and “Level” as a “list”, and “Your own option…” covers the rest: format, material, frame type. Type the values in “+ value”, comma separated, or click the suggestions beside it. Karim clicks “+ S”, “+ M”, “+ L” and “+ XL”, then adds “Colour” and types “Black, White” in “+ colour”: each value arrives with a dot, which he taps to pick its real shade. Next to each option, its number of values and its shape: “4 values · buttons” and “2 values · colour dots”. To fix a value, click it and type the new name: its rows keep their stock and SKUs.
On screen: «Options»، «Add an option»، «Size»، «buttons»، «Colour»، «colour dots»، «Edition»، «Level»، «list»، «Your own option…»، «+ value»، «+ colour»، «… values · buttons»، «… values · colour dots»
Tip: The colours suggested under “+ colour” are written in Arabic and come with their shade. A colour you type yourself arrives grey: tap its dot to choose the shade.
Heads-up: An option without values blocks publishing: “Ready to publish?” shows “Option without values: «Size»” until you add a value or remove the option. And the limit is 100 combinations: above it, a warning shows in “Variants” and the table isn’t built.

### 3. The “Variants” table: type only what differs
Under the options, “Variants” appears with “4 × 2 = 8”: eight rows Karim never typed, with the columns “Price”, “Stock”, “SKU” and “On sale”. A price in a dashed frame inherits the base price (2,200 DZD), so type a price only where it differs; the difference shows beside it (“+200”). To change many at once: “Select:” then “All …” for any value. Karim clicks “All XL”, “2 selected” appears, he types 200 and clicks “Raise price”: XL is now 2,400 DZD in both colours; the same bar offers “Set stock” and “Back to base”. Switch on “Track stock” at the top of the table: every cell becomes 0, then type what you have — 12 for “S · Black”… and 0 for “XL · White”. For SKUs, write the “SKU pattern” TRAIN-{1}-{2} and click “Apply to all 8”: from TRAIN-S-BLAC to TRAIN-XL-WHIT.
On screen: «Variants»، «Price»، «Stock»، «SKU»، «On sale»، «Track stock»، «Select:»، «All …»، «… selected»، «Raise price»، «Set stock»، «Back to base»، «SKU pattern»، «Apply to all …»
Tip: On the phone every row becomes a card with the price, stock, SKU and the “On sale” switch, with the same bulk selection. For a teacher selling in a school store that reviews its products: an approved product goes back to “Awaiting the school's review” if they change a variant's price, or add a variant priced differently from the base price, just as if they changed the product's own price, and it leaves the store until the school approves it. Stock, SKUs and “On sale” don't send it back to review.
Heads-up: A duplicate SKU stops the table from saving: each combination needs its own, or the wrong piece ships. If another product already uses it, the save line reads “A SKU is duplicated or used by another product · change it to save the table”.

### 4. A photo per colour, and the size guide
In “Photos”, as soon as the product has a colour option, the line “One photo per colour — the buyer sees it when picking the colour” appears with the buttons “All colours”, “Black” and “White” and each colour’s photo count. Pick “Black” before uploading and the new photos are tied to it; under the photos, a list per photo changes its colour later, and the first one is the “Cover”. In “Ready to publish?”, “A photo per colour” stays among the “Suggestions that do not block publishing” until every colour has one. And since the product has a “Size” option, the “Size guide” section (“Shown under the sizes”) appears: switch on “Show it” for a row per size with the columns “Chest (cm)”, “Length (cm)” and “Sleeve (cm)”, renamable, up to six. Karim types 96, 68 and 20 for S, and 114, 74 and 23 for XL. On the shirt’s page, a “Size guide” link next to the sizes opens the table.
On screen: «Photos»، «All colours»، «Cover»، «A photo per colour»، «Suggestions that do not block publishing»، «Size guide»، «Show it»، «Chest (cm)»، «Length (cm)»، «Sleeve (cm)»
Tip: On the product page, when the buyer picks “White”, the white photos come first and “Photos in White” shows under them.
Heads-up: Photos tie to a colour only, never to a size. And the size guide appears only while the option is named exactly “Size”, as “Add an option” creates it; rename it “Fit”, say, and the section disappears.

### 5. Stock per combination, before and after publishing
In “Stock and shipping”, the line “Stock per variant is in the table above” reminds you; the rest is set here: “Warn me at” (5 pieces if left empty), “Packed weight” with the shortcut “Shirt · 200 g”, and “When it sells out”: show it crossed out with “Tell me”, which is the “Default”, or “Accept pre-orders”, or “Hide it from the options”. Before publishing, numbers are typed in the table; afterwards they become read-only (“0 · sold out”, “4 · low”) with the line “The product is live: stock changes go through «Stock moves» with a reason.”. In “Stock moves”, pick the reason (“Received”, “Damaged”, “Count”, “Return”, “Other”), then the combination, the quantity and a note, and click “Record”. Karim gets 12 “XL · White” from the workshop: “Received” → 12 → “Record”, “Recorded. Stock is now 12.” appears, and the line stays in the history below, under his name.
On screen: «Stock and shipping»، «Warn me at»، «Packed weight»، «When it sells out»، «Default»، «Accept pre-orders»، «Hide it from the options»، «0 · sold out»، «… · low»، «Stock moves»، «Received»، «Count»، «Record»
Tip: In the “Products” list each combination is named: “XL · White: sold out” or “L · White: 4 left”, and a card above the list gathers what is running out; click it to see “Almost sold out only”.
Heads-up: “Hide it from the options” does not hide one sold-out combination: it stays crossed out on the page. What leaves the store list is the whole product, once everything is sold out.

### 6. What the buyer sees while choosing
In the store grid, the shirt’s card shows a price starting with “From”, without a quick-add button: size and colour are chosen on its page. There, the size buttons and colour dots, the “+200” on XL, and a price that follows the chosen combination. A value that doesn’t sell with the current choice is crossed out (with “White”, XL), and clicking it moves to the nearest combination that does; when 5 or fewer are left, “Only 5 left in XL · Black” appears. At the end of the month XL is sold out in both colours: whoever picks XL now finds, instead of the order form, “Notify me when available” with “Name” and “Phone number”, clicks “Tell me when it's back” and reads “You're on the waitlist”. Before publishing, try all this in the “What the buyer sees” card, in “Phone” or “Computer” view.
On screen: «Notify me when available»، «Name»، «Phone number»، «Tell me when it's back»، «You're on the waitlist»، «What the buyer sees»، «Phone»، «Computer»
Tip: On the phone, the fixed button at the bottom becomes “Notify me when available” when nothing is left to sell for that choice.
Heads-up: The people waiting are in the editor under “When stock is not ordinary” → “Tell me when it's back”. Once the delivery is recorded, click “Tell them now · …”: everyone waiting for the shirt is told, by notification if they have an account; the other numbers are listed for WhatsApp. The “Send automatically on restock” switch is saved, but sends nothing on its own in this version.

### 7. Stop a combination, or remove a value
To stop a combination you don’t make, switch “On sale” off on its row: it stays in the table with its stock and SKU, and on the page it is crossed out and can’t be ordered. For several rows, select them (“All White”, say) and click “Stop selling”; “Sell” brings them back. Removing a value (the cross next to “White”) asks first when orders, packs or sales stand behind it: “Remove «White»?” opens with the number of rows, open orders and pieces sold, “Stop selling it instead” and “Remove and archive the variants”, and under them “Orders keep the value's name and photo.”. At the end of the season Karim drops white with “Stop selling it instead”: its four rows switch off and their history stays. After every removal, “Undo” shows for a moment.
On screen: «On sale»، «Stop selling»، «Sell»، «Remove «…»?»، «Stop selling it instead»، «Remove and archive the variants»، «Orders keep the value's name and photo.»، «Undo»
Tip: Removing the whole option (the cross next to its name) is refused while it has open orders or packs: “«Colour» has open orders or packs. Stop selling its values instead of removing the option.”.
Heads-up: A combination inside a pack can’t be removed: the panel says “A pack holds this variant: take it out of them first, or stop selling it.” and the remove button doesn’t show.

## Questions

**How many options and combinations can I add?**
Up to 3 options per product, and up to 100 combinations. Above that, a warning shows in “Variants” and the table isn’t built: remove values, or turn one option into a separate product.

**Why don’t I see the size guide section?**
It appears only when the product has an option named exactly “Size”, with values, as “Add an option” creates it. Rename the option and the section disappears; restore the name and it comes back.

**Can I add a photo for each size?**
No. Photos tie to colours only (“All colours” or one colour), and a row’s thumbnail follows its colour. If the size really changes how the product looks, make it a separate product.

**What’s the difference between stopping a combination and removing it?**
Stopping (“On sale” off, or “Stop selling”) keeps the row with its stock, SKU and history, and “Sell” brings it back. Removing deletes the rows; old orders keep the value’s name and photo. While the value has orders or packs, the editor offers to stop it first.

**Are the people waiting told automatically when I add stock?**
Not yet. Record the delivery in “Stock moves”, then click “Tell them now · …”: a notification goes to those with an account, and the other numbers are listed for you to message on WhatsApp. “Send automatically on restock” is saved but sends nothing on its own in this version, and no piece is held for anyone.

**I copied the shirt for a new season: what gets copied?**
With “Copy as a new product”, the options, combinations and their prices are copied. SKUs are emptied so you write new ones, stock starts at 0, the link and sales are not copied, and the copy is a draft.
