# School rules: written once, published as a version, accepted by every teacher

> The rules are the written agreement between you and your team: who publishes a course, which range a price sits in, how much a teacher can discount alone, what the school takes and when it pays. You don't start from a blank page: every rule is a choice with a ready value, and every choice becomes a sentence the teacher reads. You edit in a draft nobody else sees, then publish a new version: every member gets a notice to read and accept it. In this lesson Mourad Belkacem, director of Al Ofok Academy, raises the minimum payout and lowers the no-approval discount to 20%, publishes version 3, then follows who accepted it among Samia, Karim, Nadia and Yacine.

- Time: About 10 minutes
- Who can do it: Editing and publishing the rules belongs to the director and whoever was given “Edit the school’s rules”. Whoever holds “View staff” reads the page and the acceptance without editing. Every team member reads the version in force and accepts it from “My school”.

## In short
1. Open “School”, then “School rules”: the version in force and who accepted it, the six categories, and “Text and versions”.
2. “Publishing and content”: when a course goes live, what it needs before it is sent, and whose name it carries.
3. “Prices and offers”: who sets the price and its range, price drops and free courses, discounts without approval and who bears them.
4. “Money”: the default contract, link commission, all-access share, closing and pay days, the minimum payout, refunds and fees.
5. “Students and privacy”, “Communication and support”, “Team”: phones and exports, questions and reply time, assistants and storage.
6. Every edit lands in a draft that saves itself and becomes a sentence in the text; you add your own paragraphs.
7. “Publish a new version”: what changed in sentences, the summary, a message to members, then “Publish version 3”.
8. Money changes start on the 1st of a month after at least 14 days' notice; the rest from the moment you publish.
9. “Versions and acceptance”: who accepted and who didn't, “Remind”, and one automatic reminder after 3 days.
10. The teacher reads the version in “My school”, ticks “I have read the rules and accept them”, then “Accept version 3”.

## Before you start
- “School” must be on in your workspace. The setup wizard lays down the first version from its defaults.
- Be the director, or hold “Edit the school’s rules” to edit and publish.
- Know what you want to change in money at least two weeks before the 1st of the month it starts.

## The steps

### 1. Open “School rules”: the version in force and the categories
In “School”, group “Administration”, press “School rules”. Under the title: “35 rules in 6 categories · every teacher reads and accepts them before joining”. First on the page is the strip of the version in force: “Version 2”, “In force since September 1”, “3 of 4 accepted” with a small meter, the name of who hasn't (“Karim Haddad has not accepted yet”) with “Remind”, then the “Versions and acceptance” link. Below, two columns: the six “Categories” (Publishing and content, Prices and offers, Money, Students and privacy, Communication and support, Team) with how many rules each holds, then “Text and versions”; beside them, the rules of the open category. The “As a teacher reads them” button opens the text as it reaches a teacher.
On screen: «School rules»، «Version 2»، «In force since»، «accepted»، «Remind»، «Versions and acceptance»، «Categories»، «Text and versions»، «As a teacher reads them»
Tip: Rules not published yet? You read “Your school's rules are not published yet”: start from the defaults, review them category by category, then “Publish version 1”. The first version applies at once, with no notice.
Heads-up: A new member doesn't enter the dashboard before accepting a version: they are sent back to the welcome page until they do. Publish version 1 before inviting your teachers.

### 2. “Publishing and content”: when a course goes live, and under whose name
Each rule is one row: its name, a sentence saying what it does at its current value, where it applies (the pin), and the choice at the row's end. “Publishing a new course”: “Directly”, “After review” (by its department's supervisor or by you), or “I publish” (the teacher prepares and sends, only you publish). “Editing a published course”: “Directly”, “New lessons” or “Every edit”. “Minimum before sending” adds up: “A cover”, “A description of at least 200 characters”, “A free preview lesson”, “At least 3 lessons”, “Audible sound”. “Archiving a course”: “Director only” or “The teacher if it has no students”. “Teacher's name on the course”: “Shown” or “School only”. And the “Teacher's public page”, on or off in “Our teachers”.
On screen: «Publishing and content»، «Publishing a new course»، «Directly»، «After review»، «I publish»، «Editing a published course»، «New lessons»، «Every edit»، «Minimum before sending»، «Archiving a course»، «Teacher's name on the course»، «Teacher's public page»
Tip: With “After review”, the editor shows the teacher “Send for review” instead of publishing, and the course reaches you in “Reviews and requests” with a checklist drawn from this “Minimum”.

### 3. “Prices and offers”: the range, the discount, and who bears it
“Who sets the price”: “Free”, “Within a range” which shows “Lowest price” and “Highest price” (1 000 and 6 000 DZD by default), or “I set it”: the teacher proposes, you decide. A price outside the range isn't saved in the editor; the teacher sends it as a request. “Lowering the price of a course with buyers” and “Free courses”: free/allowed, or “With my approval”. “Discount without approval”: what a teacher discounts alone (25% by default); above it, a request reaches you. “Who bears the discount”: “The teacher”, “The school” or “Proportionally”, each by their share; it carries the “Money” tag because it changes statements. And “Installments”, allowed or not.
On screen: «Prices and offers»، «Who sets the price»، «Free»، «Within a range»، «I set it»، «Lowest price»، «Highest price»، «Lowering the price of a course with buyers»، «Free courses»، «With my approval»، «Discount without approval»، «Who bears the discount»، «Proportionally»، «Installments»، «Money»
Tip: The discount limit is enforced: a teacher can't create a coupon above it, nor an amount-off coupon or one on every offer. Those belong to the director and whoever decides requests.
Heads-up: The highest price must be above the lowest. With an invalid range, publishing stops: “Fix the price range before publishing”.

### 4. “Money”: the default contract and the statement calendar
The “Default contract” is offered to every new teacher: “Commission”, “Subscription”, “Fee + commission” or “Salary”. Below it, the values it reads: “School commission” (30%) for commission, “Monthly subscription” (6 000 DZD) for a subscription, and “Commission on the teacher's link sales” (10%) when the teacher brings the student through their link. Then the “Teachers' share of the all-access subscription” (60%, shared by minutes watched), the “Closing reminder day” (day 1), the “Last day to pay” (day 10), the “Minimum payout” (2 000 DZD; below it, carried over to next month), “Refunds” (“From the teacher's share” or “On the school”) and “Online payment fees” (“Taken before the split” or “On the school”). Every row here carries the “Money” tag.
On screen: «Money»، «Default contract»، «Commission»، «Subscription»، «Fee + commission»، «Salary»، «School commission»، «Monthly subscription»، «Commission on the teacher's link sales»، «Teachers' share of the all-access subscription»، «Closing reminder day»، «Last day to pay»، «Minimum payout»، «Refunds»، «Online payment fees»
Tip: The default contract doesn't touch existing contracts: Samia keeps her 70%, Karim his salary, Nadia her subscription and commission. Each teacher's contract is edited on its own in “Contracts & commissions”.
Heads-up: Closing day and last pay day run from 1 to 28, so no date falls outside a short month.

### 5. Privacy, support and team
“Students and privacy”: “Hide students' phone and email from teachers” (hidden: the teacher sees name and progress and talks through the platform) and “Exports for the director only”. Two rows never change: “Teachers see only their own courses' students” (“Fixed”) and “Students stay when a teacher leaves” (“Always”). “Communication and support”: “Student questions go to” the course teacher and assistants or “Support first”, the “Reply time” (24 h, then the supervisor, then the director are told), “Group notifications”, “Spaces” and “Live classes”. “Team”: “Teachers add their assistants” (2), “Joining” by invitation or also through “Teach with us”, “Storage per teacher” (20 GB) and the “Notice before leaving” (30 days). On a phone, each category reads as one line of sentences; tap it to open it.
On screen: «Students and privacy»، «Hide students' phone and email from teachers»، «Exports for the director only»، «Fixed»، «Always»، «Communication and support»، «Student questions go to»، «Reply time»، «Team»، «Teachers add their assistants»، «Joining»، «Storage per teacher»، «Notice before leaving»
Tip: Going past these limits for one teacher doesn't need a rule change: a third assistant or more storage, they ask, and you approve it for them alone in “Reviews and requests”.

### 6. The draft: saved by itself, seen by no one else
Every change saves itself into a draft: “Draft saved, visible to you only”. The edited row is tinted and reads “Unpublished · was: 2 000 DZD”, and its category gets a dot and a count. At the bottom, the “Unpublished changes” bar: “2 unpublished changes · one is money, starting November 1; the rest on acceptance”, with “Discard” and “Publish a new version”. In “Text and versions” you read Al Ofok Academy's rules as they will be read: each category is a paragraph “From your choices · updates itself”, with what changed highlighted. Add your own words with “Add an introduction” or “Add a section in your words” (up to 30 paragraphs), or “Write the text with Noqta”, which proposes sections from your choices; nothing reaches teachers before publishing.
On screen: «Draft saved, visible to you only»، «Unpublished · was»، «Unpublished changes»، «Discard»، «Publish a new version»، «Text»، «From your choices · updates itself»، «Your paragraph»، «Add an introduction»، «Add a section in your words»، «Write the text with Noqta»، «Edit»، «As a teacher reads it»
Tip: Put a value back as it was? The row leaves the draft by itself. And “Discard” brings everything back to the version in force.
Heads-up: Generated sentences aren't edited by hand: change the rule and the sentence follows. Your own paragraphs are for reading; they aren't applied automatically.

### 7. Publish the version: what changed, the summary, the message
“Publish a new version” opens “Publish version 3”: “2 changes since version 2 · sent to members to accept”. First “What changed · in sentences a teacher reads”: “«Minimum payout» is now 3 000 DZD, instead of 2 000 DZD.” tagged “Money”, and “«Discount without approval» is now 20%…” tagged “Not money”. Then “Who is asked to accept”: “4 active members”. Then the “Version summary”, prepared from your edits, one line per change, which you adjust or let Noqta draft with “Propose a summary”. Then the “Message to members (optional)”, sent with the notice; left empty, they receive the summary. “Preview the text” shows the text before publishing, and “Publish version 3” publishes.
On screen: «Publish version 3»، «What changed · in sentences a teacher reads»، «Money»، «Not money»، «Who is asked to accept»، «Version summary»، «Propose a summary»، «Message to members (optional)»، «Preview the text»، «Close, the draft is saved»، «Publish version 3»
Tip: After publishing, every active member gets “New version of the school rules”, which opens their rules. Whoever is invited later reads them on joining.
Heads-up: “Write a short summary of what changed.” The summary can't stay empty: it's what a teacher reads first in “What changed in this version”.

### 8. When the change starts: at once, or on the 1st
What isn't money applies to everyone from the moment you publish. Money (every “Money” rule, plus “Who bears the discount”) needs notice: at least 14 days, starting on the 1st of a month. In the publish sheet, “When the money change starts” sits on a line: “Today · Published and notified”, then “14-day notice ends”, then “November 1 · Starts with the November 2026 statement”. “The money change starts on” offers the first possible month or a later one, never earlier. The draft bar warns you: “Publish before October 18 for money to start November 1”. After publishing, the strip says “Money changes start November 1”, the “Money” category notes that until then the previous values stay in statements, and the row shows the value applied today until that date.
On screen: «When the money change starts»، «Published and notified»، «14-day notice ends»، «Starts with the»، «The money change starts on»، «Publish before»، «Money changes start»
Tip: Missed October 18? Nothing is lost: the first possible month becomes December 1.
Heads-up: “A money change needs at least 14 days' notice and starts on the 1st of a month.” That's what you read for a date too close, and the server decides: no money change goes out without its notice.

### 9. “Versions and acceptance”: who accepted, and who to remind
“Text and versions”, tab “Versions and acceptance”: the versions table (“Version”, “Published”, “What changed”, “Acceptance”) with “In force”, “Money” and “Money starts November 1”, and any draft as a row with “Review”. Below, “Who accepted version 3”, those who owe an answer first: “Accepted October 10” for Samia, “Accepted version 2 · not this one yet” for Karim, “Not accepted yet” for Nadia, “Reads them on joining” for an invitee, “Not asked for now” for a suspended member. Beside each one who hasn't, “Remind”: they get “The school rules await your acceptance”, and you read “Reminder sent”. And 3 days after publishing, everyone who hasn't accepted gets one automatic reminder.
On screen: «Versions and acceptance»، «Version»، «Published»، «What changed»، «Acceptance»، «In force»، «Review»، «Who accepted version 3»، «Accepted version 2 · not this one yet»، «Not accepted yet»، «Reads them on joining»، «Not asked for now»، «Remind»، «Reminder sent»
Tip: The director isn't asked to accept: publishing counts as accepting. And “3 of 4” counts active members only.
Heads-up: Whoever accepted an earlier version keeps working: nothing blocks them, the reminder stays in “My school” until they accept. Only someone who never accepted any version is stopped at the door.

### 10. How a teacher reads and accepts them
The teacher opens the notice, or “My school” then “School rules”. The “Version 3” card carries “Includes a money change” and “Not accepted yet”, then “Published October 9 by Mourad Belkacem” and “In force from November 1”, “What changed in this version” line by line, then the “Full text”. Beside it, “Accept the rules”: “The last version you accepted is version 2. Read what changed, then accept the new one.” They tick “I have read the rules and accept them”, then “Accept version 3”, and the card turns to “Accepted”: “You accepted this version; it is the one you work by now.” “Earlier versions” follow, with dates and summaries.
On screen: «My school»، «School rules»، «Includes a money change»، «Not accepted yet»، «In force from»، «What changed in this version»، «Full text»، «Accept the rules»، «I have read the rules and accept them»، «Accept version 3»، «Accepted»، «Earlier versions»
Tip: A new teacher accepts the version on the welcome page the moment they arrive (“No acceptance, no entry”), then completes their public page and payout account. A later version shows in “My school” as “Rules version 3 awaits your acceptance”, with “Read them”.

## Next
- The requests your rules create: A price outside the range, a discount above the limit, a course to review: the lesson “Reviews and requests”.
- Each teacher's contract: The default contract is for newcomers only; Samia's, Karim's and Nadia's are set one by one: the lesson “Contracts & commissions”.
- What the teacher sees: “My school”, the rules, the contract and earnings: the lesson “My school for teachers”.

## Questions

**Does a teacher's contract change when I change the “Default contract”?**
No. The default contract is offered to whoever joins after publishing. Existing contracts stay as they are and are edited one by one in “Contracts & commissions”.

**Why can't I start a money change next week?**
Because a teacher needs time to know what changes in their money: at least 14 days, and a start on the 1st so a single statement isn't split between two rules. Pick a later month if you like, not an earlier one.

**What happens to a teacher who hasn't accepted the new version?**
They keep working, and what was published applies to them like everyone else. The reminder stays in “My school”, an automatic one goes out after 3 days, and you can press “Remind” any time.

**Do edits reach teachers while I type them?**
No. Everything stays in a draft visible to you only until “Publish version …”. Close the sheet and the draft is still there.

**I want a rule that isn't in the list**
Write it in “Text and versions” with “Add a section in your words”. It is read and accepted with the rules, but it isn't applied automatically.

**A teacher needs more than the rule allows: do I change it for everyone?**
No need. They send a “New request” (an extra assistant, storage, a price, a discount), and your approval is an exception for them alone; the rule doesn't change for anyone else.
