# The school's money: where every dinar went, and the all-access subscription

> “Earnings” takes one month, from what students paid to what stays with the school, and every number adds up: sales = school's share + owed to teachers. Rules settle the hard cases underneath: who bears a refund, who bears a discount code, what happens to a code with no price or to a course that changes hands mid-month. And in “Contracts and commissions” sits the “All-access subscription” block: one monthly subscription that opens the school's courses, part of which is shared among teachers by what subscribers watched. In this lesson Mourad Belkacem reads Al Ofok Academy's numbers for September 2026, then launches its all-access subscription.

- Time: About 9 minutes
- Who can do it: “Earnings” opens with “Money and sales” at “View” (seeing payments): the director, the deputy and the accountant by default. The “All-access subscription” block sits in “Contracts and commissions”; choosing its space and the auto-add need “Workspace settings”. The teachers' share and who bears refunds and discounts are changed in the “School rules”.

## In short
1. “Earnings”: an open or closed month, the month picker, six months to compare, and CSV.
2. The four numbers, and “What stays with the school” by source: sales = school + teachers.
3. “By teacher”: each teacher's sales, the school's share from them, their share, and the split bar.
4. “Refunds”: from the teacher's share in proportion, or on the school alone.
5. “Who bears the discount”: the teacher, the school or proportionally, by each code's own discount.
6. Activation codes: priced, they join sales on the day of activation; unpriced, nothing counts and the statement can't close.
7. “All-access subscription”: the space, the teachers' share, watch minutes, 20 hours at most per subscriber.
8. “Every published course joins the all-access” and “Add them now”.
9. A course that changes hands mid-month: each sale goes to whoever taught it that day.

## Before you start
- A contract in force for every teacher who sells: what is sold without one stays fully with the school.
- School rules published, including “Refunds”, “Who bears the discount” and the teachers' share of the all-access subscription.
- For the all-access subscription: a paid, published space in “Community” with courses in it.

## The steps

### 1. “Earnings”: one month, from the sale to what stays
Under “Money”, open “Earnings”. Above the title, the month's state. A running month: “Friday, October 9 · month open” and “Figures update with every sale and freeze when statements close.” A finished month with open statements: its figures stay provisional until they close. A closed month: “Every statement of this month is closed: the figures are as closed and won't change.” Beside it, the “Month” picker (a month not yet closed carries “Provisional”), and “CSV” downloads the month: teacher, contract, sales, school's share, teacher's share, status. Then “Six months: where the sales went”: a column per month, “Teachers” dark, “School” light, the running month hatched up to today. Click a column to open its month.
On screen: «Earnings»، «Month»، «Provisional»، «CSV»، «Six months: where the sales went»، «Teachers»، «School»
Tip: Months are on Algiers time: a sale at 00:30 on the 1st counts in the month that begins, under that month's contract.

### 2. The four numbers, and what stays with the school
September 2026 is closed. “Sales” 270 000 DZD (“+8% vs August (250 000)”), “School's share” 60 000 (“22.2% of sales”), “Owed to teachers” 210 000 (“3 teachers”; with links, “… of it through their links”), and “Director's courses” 25 000 (“100% to the school”) when the director has courses. The rule: sales = school's share + owed to teachers, and 270 000 = 60 000 + 210 000. On the side, “What stays with the school” by source: “Director's courses” 25 000, “Commissions” 36 000 (Samia), “Fees” 14 000 (Nadia), “Salaries” −15 000 (Karim, salary above his sales), total “School's share” 60 000. Below: “In August the school kept 24% of sales.”
On screen: «Sales»، «School's share»، «Owed to teachers»، «Director's courses»، «What stays with the school»، «Commissions»، «Fees»، «Salaries»، «Sessions»، «No contract»
Tip: “Your Dirassa+ plan is not deducted here”: the school's share is before what you pay the platform.

### 3. “By teacher”: each one's split
The “By teacher” table: “Teacher and contract”, “Sales”, “School's share”, “Teacher's share” and “Split” as a bar. Samia 120 000: 36 000 to the school, 84 000 to her, “30% to the school”. Nadia 80 000: 14 000 and 66 000, “17.5% to the school”. Karim 45 000: −15 000 and 60 000, “Salary above their sales”. And Mourad's 25 000, all to the school. Under each name, the contract and the statement's state (closed, paid). At the bottom, “Total”: 270 000, 60 000, 210 000, “22.2% to the school”. Click a name to open their contract, or “Contracts” for the contracts page.
On screen: «By teacher»، «Teacher and contract»، «Teacher's share»، «Split»، «Total»، «Salary above their sales»، «Share above their sales»، «Owes the school»، «Contracts»
Heads-up: A teacher sold without a contract? At the top of the page: those sales count fully for the school and such a statement cannot be closed, with “Write the contracts”.

### 4. Refunds: whose share pays
When a student gets their money back, the “Refunds” rule in the school rules decides: “From the teacher's share” (the default) or “On the school”. Amina is refunded 4 000 DZD for “Physics: Mechanics” on October 6. With “From the teacher's share”, the refund enters Samia's sales as a negative line that month: 40 000 becomes 36 000, her share 28 000 becomes 25 200, the school's 12 000 becomes 10 800. “A refunded sale comes out of the teacher's share, in proportion to it.” With “On the school”, Samia's statement isn't touched: 40 000 and 28 000. “A refunded sale is borne by the school alone.”
On screen: «Refunds»، «From the teacher's share»، «On the school»، «Monthly statements»
Tip: A refund counts in the month it happens, not the month of the sale: a September sale refunded in October lowers October, and September's closed statement stays as it is.
Heads-up: The rule is read as it stood in the month being computed: changing it today doesn't recompute a past month.

### 5. Discounts: who bears them
The “Who bears the discount” rule: “The teacher” (the default), “The school” or “Proportionally”, computed from each code's own discount. Ishak buys Samia's course at 4 000 with code AFAQ25 (−25%) and pays 3 000: a 1 000 discount. “Proportionally”: the split is on what was paid, 2 100 to Samia and 900 to the school; Samia bears 700, the school 300. “The teacher”: “The discount comes out of the teacher's share only, since they decide it”, so 1 800 to Samia and 1 200 to the school, as if the sale were at full price. “The school”: “The discount comes out of the school's share only”, so 2 800 to Samia and 200 to the school. The teacher's statement carries one line with the month's effect.
On screen: «Who bears the discount»، «The teacher»، «The school»، «Proportionally»
Tip: The arithmetic uses each sale's own rate (the day's contract, the tier, the link), after refunds, in models with a commission.
Heads-up: The rule covers discount codes only. Other offers are split on what was actually paid, that is proportionally.

### 6. Activation codes: priced, or they don't count
A sale by activation code joins sales at its batch's price, on the day the code was used. When you print a batch from “Sales” → “Cards” with “Batch to print”, fill in “Code price (DA)”: the field is required and starts from the course's price, 0 for free cards; a batch generated without a price (from the course's Students tab, or an old one) doesn't count until you price it. Samia: a batch of 50 codes for “Physics: Mechanics” at 3 500, 8 activated in October: 28 000 in her sales, 19 600 to her at a 30% commission. A batch without a price, “Earnings” flags it (“1 code batch has no price: its activations stay out of sales until priced.”) with “Price the batches”, and the teacher reads in their statement that a code activation isn't counted yet because the batch has no unit price.
On screen: «Cards»، «Batch to print»، «Code price (DA)»، «Quantity»، «Generate codes»، «Price the batches»
Heads-up: A statement with unpriced activations can't close: “Some codes have no price. Price their batches first.” Always set the price when generating.

### 7. “All-access subscription”: one subscription that opens the courses
At the bottom of “Contracts and commissions”, the “All-access subscription” block: “A paid space that opens the school's courses for a monthly price.” Choose “The space that opens the courses” among your paid, published spaces (“Al Ofok complete · 2 500 DZD · 12 courses”). Each month the teachers' share (a percent in the rules, here 60%) of what subscribers paid is split by the minutes they watched each teacher's courses. In October: “What subscribers paid this month” 100 000 DZD, “Teachers' share (60%)” 60 000, “Watch minutes counted” 6 000. Samia 3 000 minutes, so 30 000; Karim 1 800, so 18 000; Nadia 1 200, so 12 000. One subscriber counts for at most 20 hours: Leila watched 25 hours (15 with Samia, 10 with Nadia), so 20 count in the same proportion: 12 and 8.
On screen: «All-access subscription»، «The space that opens the courses»، «No all-access subscription»، «What subscribers paid this month»، «Teachers' share»، «Watch minutes counted»
Tip: A three-month or yearly plan is spread over its months, and refunds come off: each month shares what was paid for it.
Heads-up: A teacher's slice is added to their share on top of their contract (a line in their statement), and isn't counted for a teacher without a contract. What subscribers pay doesn't enter the “Sales” column of “Earnings”, so a share can exceed its sales.

### 8. Every published course joins the all-access
Under the space, the “Every published course joins the all-access” switch, on unless you turn it off: “When a course is published in the school it is added to the space by itself. Removing a course stays in the space's editor.” If courses published earlier are still outside the space, a notice says so (“3 published courses are not in the all-access yet.”) with “Add them now”: all of them join in one click, and the space has 15 courses. When Karim publishes “Maths: Probability”, it joins by itself: 16.
On screen: «Every published course joins the all-access»، «Add them now»
Tip: A course you want outside the all-access? Remove it in the space's editor, in “Community”; the switch won't put it back, since it is already published.
Heads-up: “Add them now” adds every published course of the school, without exception, your own included.

### 9. A course that changes hands mid-month
A course's sales belong to whoever taught it on the day of the sale. Mourad ends his collaboration with Nadia on October 15 (“End collaboration”), and her courses, “Easy Grammar” among them, are handed to him. Sales from October 1–14 (30 000) stay in Nadia's statement, under her contract: 90% = 27 000, minus 6 000 = 21 000. Sales from the 15th–31st (12 000) become “Director's courses · 100% to the school”. A refund on October 20 for a sale on the 10th (2 000) comes out of Nadia's statement, not the director's: sales 28 000, share 19 200. Same for the tier: the month's paid enrolments don't move to the new owner. Nadia reads: “Your work with the school has ended” and “What you are still owed is paid as usual.”
On screen: «End collaboration»، «Director's courses»، «Your work with the school has ended»
Tip: Same when a course moves between two teachers who both stay: each sale follows whoever taught it that day.
Heads-up: All-access slices go to the course's current owner, not to whoever taught it on the day of the watching.

## Questions

**Why is the school's share negative in a month?**
Because fixed salaries exceed their teachers' sales that month. “What stays with the school” shows the line responsible: “Salaries” in the negative.

**Do a closed month's figures change?**
No. Once every statement of the month is closed, its figures stay as closed. A later refund counts in its own month.

**A student was refunded: does the school lose the whole amount?**
It depends on “Refunds” in the rules: “From the teacher's share” splits it at the sale's own ratio; “On the school” has the school bear it alone, without touching the teacher's statement.

**Where do I see what all-access subscribers paid?**
In the “All-access subscription” block at the bottom of “Contracts and commissions”: the month's payments, the teachers' share and each teacher's slice. It doesn't enter the “Sales” column of “Earnings”.

**Why is nothing shared from the all-access subscription?**
Check three things: a space chosen, a teachers' share set in the rules (“Set the teachers' share in the rules to start sharing.”), and subscribers who watched this month (“Subscribers haven't watched anything yet this month.”).

**An order delivered with a card was refunded: how much comes off the teacher?**
The course part only, and once the card was activated; before activation, the sale wasn't in their sales at all.
