# New live: start now, or schedule

> “New live” is two ways in. **Start now**: one screen that starts a live this minute on your link, which is what most teachers do. **Schedule**: the title, “Who is it for?” which names the kind, the time in Algiers time, and the place; everything else has a ready value under “More”. Today every live runs on a Google Meet or Zoom link, because the Dirassa+ room isn’t open yet. Our examples: Nesrine Haddad, a marketing and content coach, sells the “Reels in an hour” workshop on Saturday 31 October at 10:00 for 1,200 DZD; Salim Bouzid, a physics teacher, starts a last-minute session for his course in one press; Karim Zerrouki teaches English on Zoom.

- Time: A minute to start now, about 3 minutes to schedule
- Who can do it: Whoever has “Own live classes” schedules their lives for their courses; whoever has “All teachers’ live classes” schedules those of any teacher in their scope, for those teachers’ courses. In a school where management chooses who broadcasts, only those chosen.

## In short
1. “Start now”: one screen (title, “Who is it for?”, your permanent link) and one press that opens your meeting and tells students it started.
2. “Schedule”: the title, then “Who is it for?” (a course’s students, all my students, anyone who registers, with a ticket), the kind follows, with the course and its lesson or the ticket price.
3. “When does it start?”: day and time in Algiers time, length, a calm warning on clashes; “Repeats weekly” for a series.
4. “Where does it happen?”: a Google Meet or Zoom link (your permanent link is ready), the Dirassa+ room “Soon”.
5. “More”: description, co-host and moderator, questions ahead, reminders, number and prices of tickets.
6. “Publish the live”: the “Published.” banner, then the live’s page until its time: “Start and open”, running late, “Reschedule”.

## Before you start
- A Google Meet or Zoom meeting link, or your permanent link saved: every live runs on it until the Dirassa+ room opens.
- For a live class: a course you teach, published, so the live shows in its students’ lessons.
- For a paid live: payment methods enabled in your store, since the ticket is paid on the same checkout.

## The steps

### 1. “Start now”: a live right away, on one screen
Start now is in the “New live” menu on Home, in “Your first live”, and in the phone’s “+” (“Start a live now”). One screen opens, Start a live now: Google Meet opens when you press, and your students get “The live has started”. The title is written for you (“Live class: Physics Bac 2027” for a course, otherwise “Live” and the day) and follows the course until you type. Who is it for? is already picked: your answer from the previous live, or your only course; here there are three answers: “A course’s students”, “All my students”, “Anyone who registers” (a ticket needs time to sell, so it lives in “Schedule”). Then the Length (an hour by default), then Where does it happen?: “The Dirassa+ room is coming soon. Today the live runs on Meet or Zoom.”, and your permanent link as one line with “Change”; or the “Meeting address” field with “Paste” and “Create a Meet meeting”, and under it “Make it my permanent link”. Then Start now: the meeting opens in a new tab, the live is created this minute and put on air, everyone it’s for gets “The live has started”, and this page moves to the live’s page, where you end it with “Mark as ended”. At the top, a “Start now · Schedule” switch takes you to a scheduled date without losing the title, the audience and the link.
On screen: «New live»، «Start now»، «Start a live now»، «Who is it for?»، «A course's students»، «All my students»، «Anyone who registers»، «Length»، «Where does it happen?»، «Your permanent link»، «Change»، «Make it my permanent link»، «Schedule»
Tip: Two days before the exam Salim sees his students lost in electricity: he presses “Start now”, finds “A course’s students”, “Physics Bac 2027” and his Google Meet link ready, and presses once. His students get “The live has started” and join from the live’s page.
Heads-up: If the meeting opened but the live didn’t start on our side (a dropped connection, say), you read “The meeting opened, but the live didn’t start on our side: your students haven’t been told yet.” with “Try again”. The second press starts the same live, not a second one.

### 2. “Schedule”: the title, and “Who is it for?”
Schedule from the “New live” menu, from “New live” in “Schedule”, or from “Schedule a live for this lesson” on a live lesson in your curriculum (it brings the course, the lesson and its title). At the top, New live: “Title, audience, time and place. Everything else has a ready value under “More”.” On a computer it’s one page with the publish button always in sight; on a phone, two steps: “What, who, when” then “Where & more”. First the Title, with an example that fits your answer. Then Who is it for? as four cards, with the chosen one’s line under them: “A course’s students” (shows in their lessons; no registration), “All my students” (every student account in your academy), “Anyone who registers” (a free sign-up page on your site), “With a ticket” (sold from your store, registration included). The kind follows: live class, free live or paid live. With a course, pick one or more of your courses in “Which course?”, each with its number of students, then if you like a “Live lesson in the course” (students then open the live from its place in the curriculum) or “No lesson in the curriculum”. With a ticket, enter the “Ticket price” in dinars, sold from your store with all your payment methods.
On screen: «Schedule»، «New live»، «Schedule a live for this lesson»، «What, who, when»، «Title»، «Who is it for?»، «A course's students»، «All my students»، «Anyone who registers»، «With a ticket»، «Which course?»، «Live lesson in the course»، «No lesson in the curriculum»، «Ticket price»
Tip: Salim picks “A course’s students”, then “Physics Bac 2027” and the “Unit 3 review” lesson of its curriculum: students find the live in its place in the course.
Heads-up: “Which course?” lists your own courses: a live for a course you don’t teach needs “All teachers’ live classes”. In a school whose management turned on approval for paid lives, your paid live stays a draft “Waiting for the director” and no ticket is sold until they approve.

### 3. When: Algiers time, and every week if you like
“When does it start?”: the “Day”, and the “Time” from two lists (hours 00 to 23, minutes in steps of 5), so no browser shows “PM”. By default, the next round half hour at least an hour from now, today; from 21:00 on, tomorrow at 19:00. Under the fields, a line “Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00” with Algiers time, and your own time beside it if you’re abroad. Then the Length: 45 min, 1 h, 90 min, 2 h, or “Other”, a counter from 10 minutes to 8 hours in steps of 5 (90 minutes by default for a live class or series, an hour otherwise). A moment after each change we check your time: an overlap with another of your lives (an “Open it” link), a session in your bookings including its buffers (a “Bookings” link), a blocked slot in your calendar (a “Calendar” link); otherwise a line confirms nothing else is on. A past time is refused. Below, the Repeats weekly switch: off, “One live at this time”; on, “Every Saturday at 10:00”, the date becomes “First date”, a counter of dates appears (8 by default, 2 to 60) with “No end date”, and the button becomes “Publish the series”.
On screen: «When does it start?»، «Day»، «Time»، «Algiers time»، «Length»، «Other»، «Open it»، «Bookings»، «Calendar»، «Repeats weekly»، «First date»، «No end date»، «Publish the series»
Tip: Nesrine picked Saturday 10:00 for an hour: the warning reminded her of her “Portfolio review” session at 10:30; she moved the workshop to 11:00 and the line turned free again.

### 4. Where does it happen? On your Google Meet or Zoom link
On a phone this is the second step, “Where & more”. In Where does it happen?, two cards: Dirassa+ room with a “Soon” badge (“Coming soon, from your browser. Until then, the live runs on your link.”), which can’t be picked, and Google Meet or Zoom link (“Video and chat happen there; we keep the page, reminders and attendance”), picked. If you have a permanent link it reads as one line, “Your permanent link”, with “Change”; otherwise fill in “Meeting address” (or press “Paste”): open your meeting, copy its address from the browser bar, paste it here. No meeting yet? “Create a Meet meeting” opens Google Meet in a new tab; copy the address and come back. The address is checked: it must start with https://, and a Meet address without its code (abc-defg-hij) is refused; a good one shows “Google Meet · abc-defg-hij”. Then “Make it my permanent link” (or “Make it my permanent link instead of the old one”): it is saved once you publish and every later live finds it; “Use my permanent link” takes you back to it. Below: “Students see “Join the meeting” a quarter of an hour before; whoever clicks counts as present.” With the field come tips, “Before you paste the link”: free plans cut the meeting (Google Meet after 60 minutes with three people or more, Zoom Basic after 40 minutes), a student on a phone needs the Google Meet or Zoom app, and “Use a fresh link for each live: a fixed link keeps working for anyone who saw it once, even after they leave the course.”. When the Dirassa+ room opens, its card becomes choosable again by itself.
On screen: «Where & more»، «Where does it happen?»، «Dirassa+ room»، «Soon»، «Google Meet or Zoom link»، «Your permanent link»، «Change»، «Meeting address»، «Paste»، «Create a Meet meeting»، «Before you paste the link»، «Make it my permanent link»، «Use my permanent link»
Tip: Karim Zerrouki has taught English on Zoom for years: he saved his link once, finds it ready in “Start now” and “Schedule”, and changes it whenever he likes under “Live settings” › “Where lives happen”. But a fixed link keeps working for everyone who saw it: for a paid or closed class, paste a new meeting for each live; and for a class longer than 40 or 60 minutes, take a paid plan from Zoom or Google.
Heads-up: On a Meet or Zoom link there is no studio, stage, polls or recording from us: the picture, chat and recording belong to that meeting. The join link stays open to your students until half an hour after its time ends, or until you press “Mark as ended”; if the class runs over, “Extend by 15 min” from the live’s page, up to 4 times.

### 5. “More”: everything with a ready value
More never becomes a step: folded under “Where does it happen?”, its values shown as chips (the reminders, questions ahead). Open it to change what concerns this live alone: “Description” (what people will learn, on the live’s page); “Co-host and moderator” if your team has other members; “Questions ahead”, written from the live’s page and found on its page in your dashboard; “Reminders” (a phone notification, and an email for those who registered on the site): a day before, an hour before, 10 minutes before, when it starts. For a paid live: “Number of tickets” (empty for no limit), “Price for your students” (below the ticket price, paid by people with a student account in your academy), “Price before the discount” (shown crossed out above the price) and “In the store too” (the ticket among your products). Whatever you don’t touch follows “Live settings”. What only concerns the Dirassa+ room (recording and replay, chat, stage guests) doesn’t show while the live is on a link.
On screen: «More»، «all optional»، «Description»، «Co-host and moderator»، «Questions ahead»، «Reminders»، «Number of tickets»، «Price for your students»، «Price before the discount»، «In the store too»
Tip: Nesrine sets “Number of tickets” to 80 and her students’ price to 900 DZD instead of 1,200: anyone with a student account in her academy pays less.
Heads-up: “A day before” goes out only on the day before the date: a live you schedule today for this evening gets “An hour before”, “10 minutes before” and “When it starts”.

### 6. Publish, then the live’s page until its time
Beside the form on a computer, What visitors see changes as you type: the card and its button (book your ticket with the price, register for free, or in the students’ lessons), the phone reminder an hour before, and the “Sign-up page” link for free and paid lives. “Save draft” keeps it unseen. Publish the live is there as soon as the form is complete: if something is missing it takes you to the first missing field and says what; if the server refuses, it says why (a course that isn’t yours, a lesson that already has its live, an academy frozen until you renew). Two presses don’t make two lives. Then the live’s page opens with the Published. banner (who gets a reminder, and when) and “Copy the link”. Before the start it has “Questions ahead” (each with “Pin”, “I'll answer” and “Hide”), “Invited”, “Settings” (“How it’s set” with “Edit”, “Repeat it next week”, “Cancel the live” in two presses), and beside them the student link and “Ready?” (runs on your link). On time, the button becomes “Start and open Google Meet” 30 minutes before. If the time passes and you haven’t opened it, a “12 min late” chip and a line that says what is happening, with “Reschedule” if you can’t make it now. On air: “Happening now on Google Meet” and “It ends at 21:00; the join link stays open to your students until 21:30.”, with “Mark as ended”, and “Extend by 15 min” if the class runs over (“Extended by 15 minutes: it now ends at 21:15.”), up to 4 times: “Extended 4 times: that's the most it can be.”. “Edit” at the top reopens the form; if you change the day or time, “Tell registrants about the new time” appears.
On screen: «What visitors see»، «Save draft»، «Publish the live»، «Published»، «Copy the link»، «Questions ahead»، «Invited»، «Settings»، «Repeat it next week»، «Cancel the live»، «Start and open …»، «Mark as ended»، «Extend by 15 min»، «Reschedule»، «Edit»، «Tell registrants about the new time»
Tip: “Reschedule” (on Home under “Didn’t start”, and on the page of a live that didn’t happen or is running late) opens “Schedule” with that live’s title, audience, length and place, at the next suggested time; nothing is written until you publish, and the old live stays as it was.
Heads-up: “Cancel the live” notifies registrants and course students. Paid tickets are not refunded automatically: after cancelling, the live’s page lists the ticket orders so you can refund them from the store.

## Once it’s published
- After the live: Who came, the summary and homework: the “After the live” lesson.
- Registration and tickets: What visitors see, registration, payment and reminders: the “Public lives and tickets” lesson.
- Recurring dates: A series of episodes, a weekly Q&A hour: the “Series and Q&A hours” lesson.
- Your academy’s values: What every new live inherits, and your permanent link: the “Live settings” lesson.

## Questions

**What’s the difference between “Start now” and “Schedule”?**
“Start now” is a live this minute: no reminder before it, students only get “The live has started”, and it’s for a course’s students, all your students or anyone who registers. “Schedule” is for a date ahead: reminders before it, a sign-up page or a ticket if you like, weekly repeats. A switch at the top moves between them without losing what you wrote.

**Where do I pick the kind (live class, free live…)?**
You don’t: your answer to “Who is it for?” names it, and “Repeats weekly” makes it a series, or a Q&A hour when it’s for all your students. A “Group session” comes from “Bookings”.

**Why can’t I pick the “Dirassa+ room”?**
Because it isn’t open yet: until it is, every live runs on a Google Meet or Zoom link, and the server itself refuses a live in the room. When it opens, its card comes back by itself; we don’t announce a date.

**Does a clash stop me from publishing?**
No. The warning only informs: another live, a “Bookings” session or a blocked slot at the same time, with a link to open it. You can publish anyway.

**What happens if I change the time after publishing?**
In “Edit”, changing the day or time shows “Tell registrants about the new time”, switched on: they get the new date. Changes show on the live’s page at once.

**Why don’t I see “Co-host and moderator”?**
It appears when your team has other members. The co-host is chosen among those allowed to broadcast, the moderator among any team member.
